Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus is the new top-of-the-line trim for the compact sedan; comes with some additional features
Volkswagen seems to have quietly introduced the new top-of-the-line trim of its Ameo compact sedan in India. This new top trim is christened as the Highline Plus and it comes priced from Rs. 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). It is available in both the petrol and diesel engine options and there are levels for the trim depending on the features on offer.
The Volkswagen Ameo Highline Plus comes with new design 16-inch alloy wheels, which are bigger by one inch from the previous top-of-the-line trim Highline that gets 15-inch alloy wheels. Apart from that, the Highline Plus trim of Ameo compact sedan also sports an updated touchscreen infotainment system with reverse parking camera. However, all these features are not on offer in one single package.

The petrol powered Ameo Highline Plus is priced between Rs. 7.35 lakh and Rs. 7.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), while the diesel powered model is priced between Rs. 8.59 lakh and Rs. 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). This means the customers have to spend extra Rs. 10,000 to get the 16-inch alloy wheels.
Ameo has been the first made-in-India and made-for-India compact sedan from the German auto giant. It received positive response from the buyers within short period after launch here thanks to its class leading features and sharp design. The car competes with strong rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and Ford Aspire.

The Volkswagen Ameo carries sharp design as the rest of the models from the brand. It is also the first car in the segment to offer a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox coupled with the 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine. The Ameo Highline Plus trim also comes with this transmission option. The petrol model of the compact sedan draws power from a 1.2-litre petrol engine. Power and torque output remain unchanged in the new Highline Plus trim of the Ameo compact sedan.
