Like the Vision 6, the Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury Concept is powered by four electric motors and the combined output is 750 hp with 500 km range

SUV segment is the fastest growing across the world and manufacturers like Bentley have created a new luxury SUV segment which is priced similar to Ultra luxury premium sedans. Mercedes was very much interested in this segment and the company had hinted so many times that they would introduce a premium SUV under Maybach brand to compete against Bentley and Rolls Royce.

Following a teaser, Mercedes-Maybach has finally released the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury Concept that doesn’t follow the design theme of traditional SUV models within the brand’s range as it’s more like a high riding sedan with plenty of attitude.

The front gets waterfall grille along with small three unit LED headlamps and the design is sporty with sculpted structure of bumper improves aerodynamic efficiency. The side design is very much like a sedan with high ground clearance and the retro inspired quarter glass at rear also hints the classic sedan style.

The rear design is also very attractive with same three unit design of headlamps given for tail lamp also. Mercedes describes new design as SUV Saloon in fact. The interior design of the concept is futuristic with unique design for AC vents and they are similar to the grille.

Mercedes has given lots of wood on the dashboard and door pads to increase the premium feel. The instrument cluster is fully digital like most of the modern Mercedes-Benz products. The centre console design is also very unique and we hope Mercedes put forward this theme for production model.

The upcoming production premium SUV based on this concept from Mercedes-Maybach will be based on GLS platform. Aston Martin Lagonda Luxury Utility concept from 2009 is similar to the Ultimate Luxury Concept and that too was based on GL (which is GLS now) but Aston Martin did not put it into production.

Like the Vision 6, the Ultimate Luxury Concept is powered by four electric motors and the combined output is 750 hp with a top speed is 250 kmph with a 500 km range in new European cycle. Mercedes has given 80 kwh underfloor battery which has fast charging and five minutes of fast charging will give 100 km of range. We certainly hope the production version will be as close to the concept, what do you think?
