Vehicles in Ahmedabad to come fitted with number plates and the move will gradually be implemented across every city by next year

Ahmedabad transport authorities have decided to come up with a brilliant plan for avoiding new vehicle owners from getting strangled up post the car buying. From Navaratri onwards, the new cars will reach the hands of customers only after fitted with a permanent number plate. In a hugely welcomed move, the state transport division will be potentially banishing the painstaking waiting period following a car purchase.

It is in a pursuit to eliminate appointment and visiting RTO office to receive the High Security Registration Plates (HSRP). Vallabh Kakadiya, minister of state (MoS) & transport (independent charge), stated that the transport department conducted a meeting with car dealers and dealers of other vehicles. They decided to provide number plates pre-fitted to customers during delivery.

In the state of Gujarat, over thirteen lakh vehicles are registered every year. The new decision will be implemented in the largest city of the state, Ahmedabad, within the next couple of weeks followed by Vadodara, Rajkot and Surat. It is expected that the move will be gradually spread across the state by next year.

What will be prevented is the barring of special numbers issued through auctions, temporary numbers and so on. Following the payment of RTO tax and fees by the customers to dealers, the High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) will be provided to the dealers.

This is in a bid to eliminate unwanted hassle between police and RTO officials with the new vehicle owners. The most important aspect of the new implementation is that a system will be installed that will enable vehicle consumers to get RC books right during the delivery date provided they will pay tax and fees and necessary documents.
