New Kia Carens Variant Coming Later This Year In India

Kia will only bring in a new variant later this year to India as officially confirmed and it wont feature ADAS

The Carens is a vehicle that Kia intends to expand the lineup this year in India. The MPV will not receive any visual upgrades though as it only gets a new variant. The Korean automaker will initially introduce the updated Seltos in July of this year, then the new variant of the Carens could be launched.

Powertrain

The new variant will feature the same selection of powertrains as before. It has a 1.5-litre gasoline, a 1.5-litre gasoline turbo, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces a maximum of 115 Hp and a maximum torque of 144 Nm. It is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. The turbo-petrol engine generates 160 Hp and 253 Nm. It will be available in 6-speed iMT and 7DCT transmission options. The diesel engine produces 116 Hp and 250 Nm of torque. It can also be connected to a 6-speed iMT or a 6-speed AT.

As mentioned above, the MPV wont get any exterior and interior updates and will remain the same mechanically but the new variant could get some added features. It may not even get ADAS.

It is expected that pricing will be in accordance with the total number of updates. Now, Carens may be purchased for anywhere between Rs 10.45 lakh to Rs 18.95 lakh, ex-showroom.

New Luxury (O) version from Carens

Kia has added a new Luxury (O) variation for the Carens to close the gap between the Luxury and Luxury Plus trims in terms of cost and equipment list. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines will be offered for the new version. Only automatic transmissions are available for Carens Luxury (O): a 7DCT for the petrol engine and a 6AT for the diesel engine.

There isn’t an option for manual or iMT. The ex-showroom prices for the petrol and diesel versions of the Carens Luxury (O) are Rs 16.99 lakh and Rs 17.70 lakh respectively.
