The updated 2018 Tigor comes with 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the launch is going to take place on October 10

Tata Motors is going to launch an updated version of Tigor compact sedan in India on October 10. The Tigor was launched in 2017 and the model initially got a good start in the Indian market but the sales began to come down in recent months. The company was working on an update for Tigor and the test mule was spied earlier.

The updated Tigor comes with minor tweaks for the front and rear bumper along with new grille and shark fin antenna. The major changes are for the interior as it comes with a new 7-inch touch screen infotainment system and centre console had to be completely redesigned to accommodate the new screen.

The Harman sourced system might support Android Auto along with connectivity options like Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in along with features like navigation, video playback, voice commands and more. We can expect Tata Motors to add USB charging points instead of 12 V socket.

The new system will be available only on the top end model of Tigor with diesel and petrol engines. Apart from this update, the company won’t make any changes for the compact sedan. The 1.2 L 3 cylinder petrol engine produces 85 PS and 114 Nm, while the 1.05 L diesel engine comes with 70 PS and 140 Nm of torque will be carried over.

These engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options. We can expect the company to increase the price slightly over the current model. The Tigor competes against Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Volkswagen Ameo and Ford Aspire.

Tata Motors is also working on a performance variant of Tigor and it was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Tigor JTP variant is powered by 1.2 L Revotron turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 PS and 150 Nm. This engine is mated to 5-speed manual gearbox and it comes with mechanical changes like the retuned suspension to improve handling.
