Toyota is trying to tighten its grab in the country’s auto market with new and facelifted products. One of the upcoming models from the Japanese car manufacturer is the Vios sedan. This car is expected to launch here by the end of this year. It will arrive following the brand’s latest strategy for the Indian market – offer more unique, upmarket and premium cars. Positioned at the C segment, the Toyota Vios will throw challenge to the established rivals like Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento and Hyundai Verna.

Interestingly, most of the above mentioned rivals of the Vios have been facelifted recently. They appear very stylish and upmarket. To step into tough competition, Vios too needs to present itself as a very appealing product. Well, indeed it comes as a very attractive car. The Vios incorporates Toyota’s latest modern design language. The front fascia looks quite muscular with a large front grille, sharp headlamps with projector units, and sleek chrome slats running between the headlamps. The fog lamps sit neatly at both ends of the bold looking front bumper.

The sharp character lines, alloy wheels, chrome finished door handles, nicely curved roofline, turn indicator integrated ORVMs, blackened glass area – these design elements enhance the overall visual appeal of the midsize sedan. Rear of the Vios sports large wraparound taillights, which are joined by a sleek horizontal chrome slat just above the registration enclosure. The rear bumper looks muscular.

The interior of the Toyota Vios sedan is designed to impress the buyers at the very first glance. It dons a dual tone theme along with a multi-function steering wheel, three-pod instrument cluster comprising both analog dials and a digital MID. The centre console looks squarish and incorporates a touchscreen infotainment system. In terms of space and comfort, the Vios won’t disappoint the occupants. Toyota plans to offer this car with localised production, which will surely take the game up, as it will enable the company to keep Vios’ pricing aggressively competitive against the rivals.

On the powertrain front, the Toyota Vios sedan is expected to appear with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.4-litre diesel unit as well. The same petrol and diesel engines work in the Toyota Platinum Etios and Etios Liva also. The 1.5-litre VVT-i petrol engine in the Thailand-spec Vios is capable of churning out 109 PS of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm. Both the petrol and diesel engines get mated to a 4-speed ECT automatic transmission. Expect the car to come priced between Rs. 9 lakh and Rs. 13 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Toyota C-HR

Toyota C-HR is a small crossover designed very aggressively following the C-HR concept from 2016 Paris Motor Show. Seeing and inspired by the demand and popularity of the crossovers and SUVs in India, Toyota plans to bring the C-HR here. Upon its arrival, the crossover will be positioned below the Toyota Fortuner and it will throw challenge to the top variants of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. Hyundai Tucson too could be a rival of the crossover.

The Toyota C-HR is expected to launch here sometime during 2018 and it is very likely to be showcased at the 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo. The crossover appears very interesting looking. The blend of sportiness and practicality is clearly visible and it is bound to grab attention very easily. The C-HR stands for Coupe High Rider, which signifies its coupe-ish SUV design. The upcoming Toyota C-HR underpinned by the Japanese brand’s latest TNGA platform. Globally, it rivals the models like the Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Juke.

Talking about its design, the C-HR gets sharp and sleek headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The front grille and headlamps have been designed in such manner, that they look like a single unit. A muscular bumper with large air intake enhances the visual appeal of the car. At the side profile, the C-HR gets a curvy appearance, thanks to the flared wheel arches and flowing lines. The sporty alloy wheels and sloping roofline along with a floating roof design add zing. The rear fascia gets C shaped LED tail lights, roof spoiler and a bold bumper.

Interior of the Toyota C-HR will come sporting high-quality materials and it will get a multi-function steering wheel, sporty instrument cluster and a 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto at the centre console. The sporty character of the crossover will be reflected through the design inside the cabin.

Power source for the Toyota C-HR could be a 1.5-litre dual VVT-i petrol engine under the hood. A diesel engine for the India-spec model could be a possibility. Apart from that, a 122 PS generating 1.8-litre hybrid powertrain is also on card. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT as well.

Toyota RushToyota has been very successful in the Utility Vehicle segment in the Indian market with two of its products – the Fortuner and the Innova Crysta. Inspired by the success of both these vehicles and seeing the rising demand and popularity of the compact SUV segment, the Japanese auto manufacturer has decided to launch the Rush here. It was initially rumoured to be showcased at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo, but that didn’t happen. Now, the car is likely to be launched here in near future.

The Toyota Rush is a pretty muscular compact SUV, built in line with the other modern Toyota vehicles. The compact SUV segment in the domestic market is full of established and popular products like Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Hyundai Creta. Upon its arrival, the Toyota Rush will challenge all these rivals. The Rush appears with a tough looking front fascia. You may find little similarity with the old Fortuner here.

The front fascia gets sleek chrome trim and blackened horizontal slats filled large radiator grille, compact headlamps with projector units in the top variants and integrated LED daytime running lights too. The front bumper looks bold and chunky. At the side profile, the flared wheel arches, sporty alloy wheels, roof rails enhance its attractiveness. The rear fascia gets a spare wheel mounted at the centre of the tailgate, while the vertically positioned taillight sports LED inserts.

Inside the cabin too, the Toyota Rush SUV sports an upmarket vibe. It dons three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, three-pod instrument cluster with analog and digital display, a touchscreen infotainment system at the centre console flanked by control knobs. The seat and upholstery materials are expected to come of superior quality and it will offer generous amount of space to the occupants.

The Toyota Rush compact SUV will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol unit will be a 1.5-litre motor paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel unit on the other hand will be a 1.4-litre engine capable of churning out around 90 PS of peak power. Transmission duty will be done by a 6-speed manual gearbox. Expect the Japanese brand to price the compact SUV very competitively against the rivals.

Toyota Avanza

In the MPV segment, Toyota has managed to get a strong grab with the Innova Crysta. Now the Japanese brand eyes to target the customers who come with a lower budget, but wants to own a tough and spacious MPV. Here comes the Avanza, Toyota’s compact MPV. The car is already on sale in several South East Asian market and in other overseas markets also. The Avanza is likely to be launched in the Indian market too.

Upon its arrival, the car will not only strengthen the automaker’s position in the segment, but also it will throw tough challenge to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Avanza bears a design, which is seen in several modern Toyota cars. It gets a muscular design at exterior, while the interior offers a very comfortable and spacious experience to the occupants.

The Toyota Avanza sports a large blackened front grille, sharp and compact headlamps joined by a thick chrome slat. The top variants of the Avanza could come sporting projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights. The lower variants will come featuring conventional lamps. The front bumper looks bold enough to deliver a strong road presence. At the side profile, the Toyota Avanza comes with the same muscular look, thanks to the flared wheel arches, large alloy wheels. Apart from that, there are turn indicator integrated ORVMs, blackened glass area. Rear gets vertically positioned taillights, roof spoiler and chrome finished handlebar at the tailgate.

The interior is spacious and comfortable, but not as premium as the Innova Crysta is. It gets multi-function steering wheel, analog dials and digital MID consisting instrument cluster. The centre console could boast a touchscreen infotainment system delivering an upmarket feel. Also, it will be coming with loads of safety features ensuring high level protection for the occupants.

Power source for the car is expected to be a 1.5-litre VVT-i petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine is capable of churning out 108 PS of peak power and 141 Nm of peak torque. It would deliver fuel efficiency between 12 kmpl and 15 kmpl. To keep its pricing aggressively competitive, Toyota could sell it between Rs. 6 lakh and Rs. 9 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). It is not sure, when the brand will launch Avanza in the country, but we can expect it to come by 2018.

Toyota Yaris

The premium hatchback segment has been gaining popularity with several automakers like Maruti Suzuki, Honda, Hyundai and Volkswagen offering their respective products like the Baleno, Jazz, Elite i20 and Polo. Toyota is also planning to join the league with its own Yaris premium hatchback.

Toyota Yaris hatch is expected to arrive in the country sometime during mid 2018. We have a great chance to see this model being displayed at the 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo. The Yaris appears with a very stylish design and with several upmarket features along with competitive pricing, it will throw challenge to the above mentioned rivals in the segment.

A black theme will be there to increase the sportiness, while it will come featuring a multi-function steering wheel, a sleek instrument cluster comprising analog dials and a digital MID, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto at the centre console. It will also offer generous amount of space for the occupants, and the boot storage is also expected to be capable of affording sufficient amount of luggage.

Speaking about the powertrain, the India-spec Toyota Yaris is likely to come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.4-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine is capable of churning out around 90 PS of peak power and 120 Nm of peak torque, while the diesel unit will kicking out 90 PS of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT as well. Expect the engines to offer impressive fuel efficiency. The car could come priced between Rs. 5.5 lakh and Rs. 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Toyota Hilux

The pickup trucks are still not very popular in India as they are in several global markets like USA, Australia, South East Asian markets and Latin American markets. But, Toyota is expected to bring this vehicle here sometime in 2019.

If launched, this is certainly going to be one of the very important pickup truck in the country markets where other models like Scorpio getaway, Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, Tata Xenon are present. The Toyota Hilux is in business since 1968 and currently, this vehicle is in its eighth generation. Interestingly, the Toyota Hilux pickup truck, Fortuner SUV and Innova Crysta MPV are all part of the Japanese brand’s IMV project in Indonesia and the latter two models are already available in India.
Available in two-door and four-door cab configurations, the Toyota Hilux appears bearing a very muscular tone that is visible from every angle. It also carries several design elements that are visible in contemporary Toyota UVs. The pickup truck sports sharp headlamps with projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights. On the powertrain front, Toyota Hilux is available with a range of petrol and diesel engine options. Expect it to carry the same engines shared with the Fortuner and Innova Crysta. In that case, we can see this pickup truck here with a 2.7-litre petrol engine and a 2.8-litre diesel motor. Transmission options would include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Also, it would come available in both 2WD and AWD drivetrain options.

Toyota RAV4

The car has been in global market since 1994 and we can expect it to arrive in Indian market sometime in mid 2019. Upon arrival, it will surely grab attention of the SUV loving Indian customers. Toyota deigned the RAV4 with all the elements that a customer seeks in a car from this segment.

The RAV4 stands for Recreational Activity vehicle and it comes wearing not only a sporty and stylish design. But, the SUV also offers generous room for the occupants and also for the luggage. Apart from that, an optional full-time AWD system is there and also delivers maneuverability and fuel efficiency of a compact car. Altogether, the Toyota RAV4 is a pretty attractive package.

Instead of a fully automatic gearbox, Toyota could offer a CVT as well. However, it is not sure, which engines will be offered with this model.

Toyota Vellfire

Following the brand’s strategy to focus on premium products instead of mass market models, the Japanese brand aims to increase its share in the UV segment. One of the cars from the brand to be introduced in the UV segment in 2019 is the Toyota Vellfire.

The Toyota Vellfire premium MPV comes with a strong road presence and upon arrival in Indian market, this car is expected to increase the automaker’s share here significantly. The Toyota Vellfire appears with a muscular and unique stance. It gets sharp headlamps with projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights. A heavily chrome garnished front grille is there and the front bumper too is very chunky and bold looking.

Moving to the side profile, this full size MPV carries a muscular tone, flared fenders, chrome trim around the blackened glass area and turn indicator integrated ORVMs. Also known as the Toyota Alphard, the car sports a boxy design at back of it. There are wraparound taillights, chrome garnished door handlebar, a sculpted tailgate and a chunky bumper.

Inside the cabin, Toyota Vellfire appears with a very stylish and premium appearance. It gets multifunction steering wheel, analog and digital display consisting instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system with various connectivity options. The plush leather seats come offering high level comfort to the occupants and instead of the conventional bench, middle row come with captain seats with individual arm rests. So far, it looks like a premium version of the Innova Crysta inside the cabin.

On the powertrain front, Toyota Vellfire is expected to come available with a hybrid powertrain. On the transmission front, Toyota would offer a manual and an automatic gearbox in the India-spec model. The premium MPV is expected to arrive with both 2WD and AWD drivetrain options.

Toyota Verso-S

The car is expected to arrive in Indian market sometime in late 2019 and it would be an important model for the brand in the country. The Toyota Verso-S is the successor of the Toyota Yaris Verso that remained on sale till 2005 and seen vehement popularity in global market. Toyota has been very successful in the UV segment of domestic market. Inspired by that success, the automaker aims to roll out this Verso-S in the country.

This supermini MPV could become popular with its practicality and affordability if priced right in India. In terms of design, it is not very stylish or attractive. But, the practicality reflected by its design is undeniable. It sports a short sloping hood, sharp headlamps like Yaris hatchback. The sleek front grille features horizontal chrome trim. There is a muscular bumper with large black air intake and neatly positioned fog lamps.

At the side profile, it gets alloy wheels, turn indicator integrated ORVMs, blackened glass area, subtle character lines. Moving to the rear of the car, Verso-S features short and compact taillights and a sculpted tailgate. Inside the cabin, this car gets generous amount of space for four occupants.

The cabin gets multifunction steering wheel, analog and digital display consisting instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system at center console flanked by several control buttons. Interestingly, the transmission well comes positioned very cleverly saving plenty of space for the occupants. The rear occupants too enjoy generous leg space and headroom. Upon arrival in India, it would lock horns with Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Expect the Toyota car to be priced aggressively against Ertiga.

On the powertrain front, the Toyota Verso-S is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. Petrol model gets energy from a 1.33-litre unit and the diesel model is powered by 1.4-litre motor under the hood. The petrol engine is capable of churning out 100 bhp of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 125 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. On the other hand, the diesel motor is capable of pumping out 90 bhp of peak power at 3,800 rpm and 205 Nm of peak torque between 1,800 rpm and 2,800 rpm. A 6-speed manual gearbox does the transmission duty in the car.

Toyota Aygo

The hatchback appears wearing the Japanese automaker’s contemporary design language. Interestingly, the car was spotted in the country in January last year igniting a speculation that the automaker will display it at 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo. However, that didn’t happen. But, now it seems the automaker has chance to showcase the Aygo hatchback at 2018 Auto Expo.

Speaking about the design of the Toyota Aygo, it gets sharp headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights and an X shaped front grille with shiny black trims. The large air intake, muscular front bumper, neatly positioned fog lamps are there. The front fascia bears such a design that grabs attention at the very first moment.

Moving to the side profile, Toyota Aygo gets alloy wheels, turn indicator integrated ORVMs, blackened glass area and a nicely curved roofline. Rear profile of the hatchback boasts vertically positioned LED taillights, an integrated roof spoiler, sculpted tailgate and a chunky black bumper as well. Overall, the Toyota Aygo looks very interesting and stylish from every angle.

Inside the cabin too, the Toyota Aygo appears very upmarket with its design and features on offer. It offers generous space that ensures comfortable journey experience for the occupants. As we reported earlier, the Aygo is expected to become an electric powered model. However,m it’s not sure, if the electric version will arrive in India or not. The regular model shares several components with Peugeot 108 and Citroen C1.

The standard Aygo hatchback gets energy from a 1.0-litre petrol engine and there is a 1.2-litre petrol motor on offer as well. The smaller engine kicks out around 70 bhp of peak power and 95 Nm of peak torque. It is not sure, which engine will be available under the hood of the India-spec model. On transmission front, the car gets a manual gearbox and an automatic unit as well. Expect the hatchback to be priced between Rs. 11 lakh and Rs. 16 lakh upon arrival.
