2019 Suzuki Gixxer 250 will share several components with the fully-faired SF 250; to rival Yamaha FZ25 and KTM Duke 250
Suzuki Motorcycle India hosted two of its biggest launches in recent times a few weeks ago as the updated Gixxer SF 155 and Gixxer SF 250 proved how serious the brand is working towards tapping into new segments and exploiting the popularity in the existing entry-level sporty naked space where the Gixxer 155 has attained good volumes over the years.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 was earlier expected to be introduced alongside its naked sibling. However, it did not turn out to be the case. The Japanese manufacturer will likely launch what has been called the Gixxer 250 during the course of this year and it will share several components with the fully faired SF 250. Moreover, the technical specifications will largely remain the same to keep the production costs in check.
No patience in waiting? A set of leaked pictures here will give you some idea of what is in store from the upcoming motorcycle that will take on a number of rivals including Yamaha FZ25, KTM Duke 250, Bajaj Dominar and others. As the Gixxer SF 250 is priced at Rs. 1.70 lakh (ex-showroom), we predict its naked sibling to cost around Rs. 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
The leaked images show the presence of similar body graphics and alloy wheel design as the faired model with 17-inch tubeless rubber. The obvious lack of fairing will reduce the kerb weight of the naked motorcycle while the engine gets protection as well. The fuel tank extensions are more than welcoming and it gives an edgy demeanour to the overall styling.
The streetfighter will share the transmission, powertrain, braking and suspension components with the SF 250. The single-cylinder oil-cooled fuel-injected engine is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 26.5 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 22.6 Nm of peak torque delivered at 7,500 rpm. It is connected to a six-speed transmission.
Some of the important features in the naked streetfighter are clip-on handlebar, digital instrument console, rear tyre hugger, dual-channel ABS system, split seat setup, etc.
