Suzuki Announces India launch Of Two Bikes And Scooters Each Year

With its aggressive product strategy, Suzuki two-wheelers India aims to clock 1 million sales mark by the year 2020

Suzuki Motorcycles India has just announced that it will launch a minimum of two motorcycles and scooters in the country every year. The Japanese manufacturer is betting big on the Indian two-wheeler market with its products from now on. Suzuki has stated that the focus will now be on volumes and new choices will be offered to its customers.

With this, Suzuki is also looking to double its market share in India by the year 2020. At present, the company has a market share of 5 percent in India and hence, it is eyeing to achieve 10 percent mark. Regarding this, Mr Sajeev Rajasekharan, who is the executive Vice president at Suzuki Motorcycles India said that the strategy will straddle between scooters which are the volume grosser for the company at the moment. Besides this, the top honcho states that the brand will also be launching motorcycles having engine capacity of 150cc and above.

In 2016, Suzuki sold a total of 3.5 lakh units of two-wheelers and is looking forward to hit the 5 lakh sales mark in the current year. Not only this, the manufacturer is eyeing on 7 lakh unit sales next year and eventually 1 million mark in the year 2020. Suzuki Motorcycles India also stated that due to positive numbers, the company managed to clock a total revenue of Rs. 3,000 crore last year.

Talking of first half of the current fiscal, Suzuki Motorcycles India saw a growth of 65 percent in its scooter segment. During this period, the company sold a total of 2.42 lakh units of scooters as against 1.6 lakh units sold during the same period last year. With this, Suzuki seems really aggressive with its upcoming product strategies.

The company currently only has the Gixxer at its disposal when talking of mass market sportsbikes and the entry of new comers can definitely spice up things. Also, a new sporty scooter that may arrive in the form of 2018 Swish can do wonders for the brand and help it turn its ambition into reality.
