The new Maruti Ertiga will launch on November 21. The second generation of the company’s hot-selling MPV is larger in dimensions, has better specifications, and should even offer a higher mileage.
However, it will have a slightly higher price and will be sold through the Nexa premium dealerships. Here are the Top 5 things you should know about the new Maruti Ertiga –
1. Looks Sophisticated
The new Maruti Ertiga looks a lot more desirable than the current model. This is majorly due to an exterior design that seems to have been inspired from the Volvo XC60 and the V90 Cross Country. Plus, the larger dimensions also help the new model have a higher street presence. The company has used additional chrome for the India-spec model, whcih means you get a really premium appearance that is sure to be received well by the buyers.
2. Better Specs
The new Maruti Ertiga will be much better in terms of specifications than the model it is about to replace. It will be underpinned by the lightweight HEARTECT platform, which means there won’t be any weight gain in spite of the increased dimensions. The petrol version will be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine that will replace the current 1.4-litre motor.
This engine outputs a maximum power of 104 PS and a peak torque of 138 Nm. This is an increased of 12 PS and 8 Nm. Transmission options for this engine include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed automatic one.
For now, the 2018 Ertiga will be sold with the current model’s 1.3-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 90 PS and a peak torque of 200 Nm. However, this engine will be changed by a BSVI-compliant 1.5-litre turbo motor at a later stage. Both the models will be equipped with the second generation of the SHVS smart hybrid technology. This will lead to a better mileage.

The new Maruti Ertiga will be sold with a lot many additional features. The interior of the new car will be more premium due to the higher equipment and a better fit and finish. The dashboard will hold a 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It has a height of 1,690 mm, which makes it 5 mm taller than before.

Even its boot capacity with all the seats up remains unchanged at 153-litres. However, with the last row of seats folder, it offers a bigger boot than the current version.
