Maruti Suzuki is in constant process of making its popular cars more attractive. The Indo-Japanese automaker has already launched the updated new Celerio and now, it is working on new Wagon-R as well that is expected to launch here in late 2018. Suzuki has already showcased the new generation model of this popular tallboy hatchback at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show.

The new Wagon-R comes with significantly distinctive appearance compared to the current model. The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R gets a new front fascia and revised design across its entire exterior. However, the basic boxy silhouette is visible in the new model as well that helps us identify it as the Wagon-R. The tallboy hatchback has been in business for quite long time and arrival of the new model will certainly enhance its appeal further.

Front fascia of the new model sports updated headlamps sans LED daytime running lights. The front grille has been revised and features sleek chrome trim. Front bumper of the car gets large black air intake. The boxy shape is visible at side profile and it boasts new design wheels, smoother and relatively plain look thanks to the absence of character lines and there is an updated glass area as well. Rear of the car gets flatter look compared to the current model.

The new Wagon-R’s rear fascia gets revised wraparound taillights and they are relocated as well. So far, the Japanese Domestic Market-spec (JDM) model displayed at Tokyo Motor Show looked much more attractive compared to the current model on sale in India. Not only at exterior, inside the cabin too, it looks new with the updated three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a repositioned and redesigned analog and digital display consisting instrument cluster along with a tab-like large touchscreen infotainment system at centre console.

The new Wagon-R offers more space and comfort to the occupants. On powertrain front, it gets a more efficient 1.0-litre petrol engine that is capable of churning out 68 bhp of peak power and 90 Nm of peak torque. The JDM-spec model gets a 5-speed manual gearbox and a CVT as option The India-spec model would receive the automaker’s AGS technology alongside manual gearbox. Expect the price to be slightly higher than the current Wagon-R.
