The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross which is on test currently has been rendered and gives us a feel of how the MPV could look like

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been a successful MPV in India thanks to a value for money offering. Maruti Suzuki updated the Ertiga last year in November increasing the desirability quotient even more and the numbers speak volumes. The Ertiga MPV outpaced the most successful compact SUV in India – Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in recent months. To cash on the success of the Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the Ertiga Cross – a more rugged variant in the coming months.

The car is under tests internationally and has been spied a few times. Based on the spy shots, IAB has rendered the upcoming model to give us an idea on how the Ertiga Cross could look like. As per the rendering, the Ertiga Cross will have a noticeable different design, giving the Cross a more rugged, premium look.

Upfront is an upright nose, a bigger front grille and new headlight units with integrated LED daytime running lamps. The bumper is also new and gets a chrome treatment with two narrow chrome slats on the lower grille and larger air intakes. To give it a more rugged feel, there’s a chunky chrome bar between the headlights

On the sides are the sharp body line, big roof rails, higher ground clearance and use of black cladding to give it a muscular look. The machine-finished alloy wheels are also new. The rear gets a new set of tail light cluster and a new bumper. There is no image of the interior, but we expect an all-black theme to match the sporty exterior, similar to the one seen on the Ertiga Black Edition. The equipment and overall layout is expected to remain the same.

Talking about the mechanicals, the Ertiga Cross will continue to be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine as the standard Ertiga i.e. a BS-IV K15 Smart Hybrid petrol engine delivering 104.6 PS and 138 Nm.

The DDiS 225 1.5-litre diesel engine on offer currently will not make its way to the Cross. However, the petrol unit will be upgraded to a BS-VI one. The engine will get a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed auto gearbox.
