Mahindra Alturas will be launched in India on November 24th and the company has officially opened bookings for its flagship SUV. The production of Alturas commenced last month as we have already spotted the model at the manufacturing plant waiting to be dispatched to dealerships. The Alturas has been spied completely undisguised ahead of launch for the first time.

The Alturas is basically the rebadged version of new generation SsangYong Rexton, which was introduced last year. Mahindra decided to rebrand the model as earlier Rexton was not so popular in India. The company has made some design tweaks on the Rexton G4.

The concept model was showcased for the first time in India at the 2018 Auto Expo. The front gets new grille along with updated front and rear bumpers. Mahindra has also given a new design for alloy wheels and the exterior design gives a premium feel for the SUV. The interior is completely different from any other Mahindra products.

The dashboard has three different layers in which top portion is finished in black soft touch plastic, while the middle gets a wood finish and the lower part in leather. The centre console also gets a brushed aluminium finish. The Alturas comes with three row of seating and we can expect good space for all passengers.

The Alturas is loaded with features like 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual zone climate control, sunroof, cruise control, leather seats, electronic park brake, digital instrument cluster, UBS charging, automatic tailgate, rain sensing wipers, reverse camera with parking sensors and more.

The flagship SUV will be powered by 2.2 L four-cylinder diesel engine producing 180.5 hp of max power and 450 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to seven-speed automatic gearbox sourced from Mercedes Benz and the Alturas will be offered in 2 WD and 4 WD configuration. We can expect Mahindra to price the SUV aggressively and it will compete against Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Honda CR-V.
