Find out whether the upcoming Honda Activa 6G has what it takes to compete against its arch-rival the TVS Jupiter

For those of you who are still not aware, Honda has already started testing the next generation Active 6G on Indian soil. The test mule of the upcoming scooter was spotted recently covered in full camouflage and carrying a host of cosmetic and mechanical updates. The upcoming Honda Activa 6G will lock horns directly against its biggest rival the TVS Jupiter when it finally launches here.

There is no denying the fact that Honda Activa is the highest selling two-wheeler of India. Honda Activa’s biggest rival the TVS Jupiter, on the other hand, has been around for a while now. Unfortunately, its sales numbers aren’t anywhere close to the Activa. However, Honda has been struggling recently in terms of its sales figures and even lost their second position in the Indian two-wheeler sales chart to TVS Motors last month.

Now here comes the big question: Will the upcoming Activa 6G able to bring big sales numbers for Honda and does it have what it takes to compete with its rival the TVS Jupiter? We try to find out in this spec comparison of the Honda Activa 6G against the TVS Jupiter.

Honda Activa 6G VS TVS Jupiter Styling Comparison

Honda Activa 6G Rendering

To be quite honest the overall silhouette of both the scooters has remained almost unchanged since their inception. However, it is also true that we have seen plenty of updates made to both the scooters to keep up with their other rivals. That said, the upcoming Honda Active 6G test mule was spotted with a newly designed LED headlamp assembly and a new set of LED DRLs as well.

The front apron too has been completely restyled and most probably now also gets integrated side-turn indicators. Besides all that, the instrument cluster will also sport some new graphics and a small digital screen positioned below the analogue speedometer that will provide some vital information including odometer, fuel levels, etc to the rider. Some of the important features like the four-in-one lock mechanism will most probably be also carried over to the new model.

The TVS Jupiter, on the other hand, recently received some significant updates and is now available in three variants including the Basic, Classic and top of the line Grande variant. The basic variant is the old Jupiter that we already know for a long time and is the most affordable amongst the three. The Jupiter Classic variant gets few additional accessories including a small windscreen positioned above the headlamp, a cushioned grab rail at the rear, etc.

However, we believe that the retro theme does not go too well with the overall angular angular lines of Jupiter. The recently introduced Grande variant, on the other hand, gets some new updates including a diamond cut alloy wheels, premium cross stitch seat, a full LED headlamp with LED DRL, and lastly adjustable shock absorbers at the rear.

The Activa 5G currently produces around 8 ps of peak power and 9 Nm of peak torque. However, the unit will be revised to meet the upcoming emission norms. Expect Honda Activa 6G to also feature Honda’s HET (Honda Eco Technology) tech that promises to offer an improved fuel efficiency numbers.

Here comes the interesting part. The current Activa is underpinned by a dated platform and thus when it comes to handling and ride comfort the Jupiter surely takes away all the credit. However, expect the upcoming Activa 6G to be underpinned by a revised platform because it was already spotted with telescopic suspension setup and a sleeker body. When it comes to features, both the Activa and the Jupiter are on par and offers almost everything that is also offered by its closest rivals.

Lastly, when it comes to the engine there is no doubt in the fact that the Honda Activa is slightly more refined and fuel-efficient than that of the Jupiter. It is hard to currently finger point a winner in this battle as both are evenly matched. That said, we will definitely update you with more details as soon as the new Honda Activa 6G is launched in India.
