As many as seven new cars will soon be launched in India that will get ICE and EV powertrain options

Electric cars are now getting extremely popular in the country and many brands including Hyundai, Maruti, and Tata are currently working on a number of new electric vehicles that will soon be launched in the country. Furthermore, as many as seven new vehicles will be launched in the country which will be offered with both, ICE as well as electric powertrain options. Here are all the upcoming cars in India that will be offered with ICE and electric powertrain options.

1. Tata Harrier EV

The Harrier SUV is the flagship product in the brand’s line-up and will soon be getting a major update in the future. While the Harrier is only offered with a diesel powertrain, the brand recently showcased the upcoming harrier EV at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2023. The electric version of the Harrier SUV is likely to get a dual-motor setup that will channel power to all four wheels.

2. Tata Punch EV

The Tata Punch is currently one of the best-selling cars in the brand’s line-up and is offered with a 1.2L NA petrol engine. The Indian carmaker will soon be launching the new Punch EV in India for buyers looking for an affordable and practical electric micro SUV. The new Punch EV is likely to share its powertrain with the Tiago EV and is expected to get two battery pack options. The Punch EV price in India is likely to start from Rs 9-10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

3. Tata Curvv EV

The Tata Curvv concept SUV made its debut last year and is since then one of the most talked about Tata cars in India. The new Curvv will launch in the country somewhere next year and will be offered with both, ICE as well as all-electric powertrain options. The Curvv ICE was also showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and will be offered with both petrol as well as diesel engine options. The all-electric version on the other hand is likely to be offered with two battery pack options and will be positioned above the Tata Nexon EV.

4. Maruti Jimny EV

The Maruti Jimny EV is also likely to make its debut in late 2024 and will be one of the first off-roaders in the country to be offered with an all-electric powertrain. The Jimny EV is expected to be offered with a body-on-frame architecture with a 4WD setup as standard. The Jimny will also be offered with a 1.5L NA petrol engine.

5. Mahindra XUV e8

The new XUV e8 was showcased by the brand earlier and is likely to make its debut by mid-2024. It will be sold alongside the XUV700 and will be based on the brand’s new INGLO platform. This new SUV is likely to be offered with two battery pack options – 60 kWh and 80 kWh. Furthermore, it is said to be offered with a single motor as well as a dual motor setup which will come coupled to an AWD system. The XUV e8 will be the first of the many upcoming Mahindra electric SUVs in India.

6. Maruti Fronx EX

The Maruti Fronx made its debut earlier this year and is underpinned by the same platform that underpins the Baleno premium hatchback. While the Fronx will be offered only with two petrol engine options at the time of the launch, Maruti is also said to be working on an all-electric version of the Fronx, the official launch timeline of which is yet to be revealed. The Fronx EV will be one of the most affordable EVs in the country.

7. Hyundai Creta EV

The Hyundai Creta is currently the best-selling mid-size SUV in the country and is offered with three powertrain options – 1.5L NA petrol, 1.5L turbo diesel, and 1.4L turbo petrol. The brand is likely to soon launch a new mid-size EV in India which will be based on the Creta. Once launched, it will be positioned below the Kona EV and will directly challenge the rivals like the Mahindra XUV400 EV, Tata Nexon EV, and the MG ZS EV.
