25 upcoming car 2019 (1)

Tata 45X

Tata 45X Interior Leaked 1As Tata Motors is gearing up to launch several exciting models in near future, the 45X premium hatchback is going to be one of the important one among them. Earlier this month, the concept of Tata X45 was showcased at 2018 Auto Expo. This car will enter the highly in demand premium hatchback segment of the Indian auto market that is ruled by Maruti Suzuki Baleno. The segment also has models like Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Elite i20 etc. No wonder, Tata 45X’s task is going to be pretty tough once it enters the segment.

The premium hatchback is expected to hit the market sometime during 2018. The premium hatchback will boast a very attractive and stylish design incorporating the homegrown automaker’s latest IMPACT 2.0 design language. It would get a stylish and glossy black front grille with the smiling pattern just like the Tiago and the Tigor. Apart from that, it would sport sharp headlamps with projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights. The car could come sporting a similar front bumper like the Tiago hatchback.

At the side profile, the Tata 45X hatchback is expected to get sporty and stylish alloy wheels, sleek and sharp character lines, body coloured door handles, turn indicator integrated ORVMs, blackened glass area and a nicely curved roofline. Rear profile of the car could sport LED taillights and chunky bumper along with a roof spoiler. We would learn more about the design of the car in near future, once the car starts testing on road. But one thing is sure, that it will come with a very stylish and eye-catching design reflecting premiumness.

A premium hatchback deserves upmarket treatment inside the cabin as the occupants will spend most of the time inside the cabin. The Tata 45X also would come with several attractive features and unique style inside the cabin. It would get a multi-function steering wheel, an analogue and digital display consisting instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system at the centre console. It would offer a generous amount of space and comfort.

Powertrain would include both petrol and diesel engines and transmission options would include a manual and an AMT gearbox. As the car will arrive sharing some components and styling element with the Tata Nexon, the powertrain could be borrowed from the compact SUV as well. It would be priced competitively against the rivals.

Toyota Premium Hatch Based on Maruti Baleno

TOYOTA BALENO GAADIWAADIToyota and Suzuki announced a new partnership earlier this year in which the largest car manufacturer in the world will share its popular Corolla to Maruti Suzuki and they will share Baleno and Vitara Brezza compact SUV. Toyota was able to crack MPV and SUV segment in India even with premium pricing but the company is not able to get the significant share in the hatchback segment.

Toyota has Etios Liva in the segment but it is not doing well because of design and lack of features. The Baleno is already the best selling hatchback in the premium segment and this will be a good starting point for Toyota. The Japanese manufacturer will make significant design changes for Baleno as it won’t be a simple cross badging.

The front and rear design will be completely different for Maruti’s version and it will be in line with other Toyota products. The company want to continue the premium image which it has created in the Indian market. But the mechanical and interior components will be shared with Maruti. We can also expect quality to be improved slightly to meet Toyota expectation.

The Baleno will be loaded with features like touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, multi-function three-spoke steering wheel, keyless entry, push-button start, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, alloy wheels, automatic wiper, automatic headlamp, cooled glove box and more. The infotainment system will be different on Toyota Baleno.

Toyota Baleno will be powered by 1.2 L K-Series engine producing 83 hp of power and 115 Nm of torque. The 1.3 L diesel engine puts out 74 hp of power and 190 Nm of torque. These engines are mated to 5-speed manual gearbox but the petrol version also comes with 5 speed CVT gearbox. The Baleno diesel model returns 27.39 kmpl and 21.1 kmpl for petrol.

We can expect Toyota to introduce sports model of Baleno with 1.0 L turbocharged engine producing 101 hp of power at 5,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 1,700 rpm. This engine is also mated to 5-speed gearbox. Toyota Baleno is expected to be priced on par with Maruti’s version and the launch will take place by 2020.

Kia is finally coming to India and the company officially announced its India entry at the 2018 Auto Expo. The production version is going to be similar like the concept version. At the front, the production model gets signature Kia grille with a big headlamp along with muscular design for bumper giving an SUV stance for the compact SUV. The company will also give good clearance to further help it and skid plates at front and rear also.

On the side, the design is similar to Creta and we can expect 17-inch alloy wheels on top end variant. At the rear, the production model gets LED tail lamp and the design is pleasing which is different to Creta. Kia has asked its fan to finalize the name for production model and Tusker is the name currently getting most votes.

We can expect the long list of features like touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, cruise control, automatic headlamp, automatic wiper, sunroof, cooled glove box, leather seats, electric OVRMs and more.

Kia SP Concept production model will be powered by 1.6 L diesel and petrol engines from Hyundai Creta. We can expect similar output but the tuning will be different and these engines will be mated to the manual and automatic gearbox. Kia will officially launch the SP Concept production model by the middle of next year and pricing will be par among Creta.

Hyundai QXi

hyundai qxi suv india-1

Hyundai is one of the manufacturers, which is not yet present in sub-four meter compact SUV in India. They are currently working on a new model, which is codenamed as QXi and the design is going to take influence from the Carlino concept. The company has focused on giving a traditional boxy SUV look for the compact SUV.

The front gets signature grille of Hyundai along with new dual head-lamps set up as the company is following this design theme for its SUV models as we have already seen it in Kona and the new generation of Santa Fe. The conventional headlamp position is occupied by LED DRLs while the actual projector headlamp is positioned below it.

The company has also given new bumper along with fog lamps and the compact SUV might come with cornering lamps also. The upcoming model gets black plastic cladding running across the body and the alloy wheels are expected to be machine cut, while top-end models will get 16-inch wheels and 15-inch for lower variants.

Next Generation Hyundai Santa Fe (1) (hyundai qxi suv STYX)

The window design is similar to the Creta and the upcoming model also gets roof rails also. The rear comes with LED tail lamps and a new bumper. Hyundai might offer dual-tone colour options for the QXi as it is popular among targeted customers. The interior is expected to take inspirations from other Hyundai models.

The quality of materials will be top notch and the compact SUV will offer good space inside the cabin also. The QXi will be packed with lots of features like touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, sunroof, push-button start, keyless entry, reverse camera with parking sensors, cruise control, automatic headlamps and more.

The ride and handling are expected to be par among with rivals. Hyundai QXi might debut the new 1.0 L turbocharged petrol engine with 100 PS and 172 Nm along with regular 1.2 L Kappa engine and 1.4 L CRDi unit from Elite i20. These engines will be mated to manual and AMT gearbox options. The QXi will compete against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

Expected Price: 7-12 lakh
Expected Launch: April 2019

Renault RBC MPV

renault kwid 7 seat mpv-1
Renault already confirmed that the company will introduce an MPV model for the Indian market as Lodgy is not doing well because of its design and lack of features. The CMF-A platform of Kwid is heavily localized for the Indian market which helped the company to price the hatchback aggressively against the competition.

The company is going to use CMF-A+ platform for the upcoming MPV as pricing is key for the success of any product in the Indian market. Like Kwid, the upcoming MPV will be localized heavily and lots of parts will be shared with Kwid and Captur as it will further reduce the cost of the product and the company is planning to position it just below Ertiga.

The test mule of the upcoming MPV was spied last week which reveals that the length will be over 4 metres. The design of MPV is very attractive with signature Renault grille at front with large headlamp and the design is similar to Kwid. The front bumper get skid plates and fog lamps are placed on the edge of the bumper.

The side design is simple like most of the MPV and we can expect 15-inch alloy wheels while the rear of MPV get split tail lamps with a muscular bumper with skid plates. Overall, the exterior of Renault MPV is attractive. The interior of MPV continues the same design theme from Kwid and it comes with lots of features but we are not expecting quality to improve.

The long list of features list includes 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is shared from Kwid and Captur along with climate control, push-button start, keyless entry, electric OVRMs and more. Renault is also focusing on ride quality as the suspension will be tuned for comfort rather than handling as the segment prefer it rather a sporty ride.

The upcoming MPV comes with a petrol engine option only according to some media reports. The engine is the same 1.0 L unit from Kwid but uses the turbocharger to increase power output. One of the reasons for not using diesel engine is that the company doesn’t have a small engine to fit into the hood. We can expect Renault to launch new MPV by festival season in India.

Expected Launch: September 2018
Expected Price: Rs. 5-8 lakh
