A number of manufacturers are looking to launch seven-seater SUVs in the sub Rs. 15 lakh category and here we list all of them

The Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 15 lakh price range will see plenty of action in the near future as a host of new SUVs are lined up for launch. The car producers are trying to utilise the enormous popularity endured by the compact and midsize SUV segments and more SUVs based on them are coming out to further expand the options they give to the active SUV seekers, especially in the three-row space. Here are some of the upcoming seven-seater SUVs in India:

1. Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara XL:

The Grand Vitara is finally on sale in India and is priced highly competitively against its midsize SUV segment rivals. The largest carmaker in the country will strengthen its SUV portfolio with the arrival of the Baleno-based compact SUV coupe next and it will be followed by the India-spec five-door Jimny in 2023. The flagship seven-seater SUV based on the Grand Vitara is also expected to debut in late 2023 or in 2024.

2. Toyota Hyryder Seven-Seater:

With Hyryder having several commonalities with the Grand Vitara, it is only safe to assume that a three-row SUV based on it is highly likely. However, no official details are known at the moment. The seven-seater SUV will certainly help in further enhancing the practicality bits of the Hyryder as it is already frugal and it could appeal to a wide band of family buyers.

3. Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus:

The Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus has been on the rumour mill for long and it will more likely debut this festive season in India. It will largely replicate the Bolero Neo in terms of design and is expected to be available in seven- and nine-seater configurations. A 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine producing up to 120 PS could be paired with a five-speed MT only.

4. Citroen C3-Based Seven-Seater:

Citroen India is said to launch the electric version of the C3 compact hatch in early 2023 and it could be followed by an affordable seven-seater variant based on the ICE platform. It could take on Renault Triber and probably Maruti Suzuki Eritga with respect to accommodating passengers while having an SUV stance as the wheelbase could be stretched.

5. Nissan Magnite Based Seven-Seater:

A Nissan Magnite compact SUV based three-row SUV is also under development. It won’t have any structural or substantial design changes compared to the five-seater and could boast of a sliding mechanism to adjust the legroom between the second and third rows. Expect it to launch soon in India as a big announcement is awaited on October 18.
