Mahindra is offering a great deal of discounts on the 2018 MY stock of the XUV500 in July 2019; read below to know the details
Mahindra & Mahindra finished June 2019 as the only manufacturer to have posted positive sales growth. Impressed with 8 per cent YoY sales increase, Mahindra sold 17,762 units last month as against 16,454 units during the same month in 2018. This came when the whole industry has been suffering continuous sales drops in recent months and even Mahindra recorded 9 per cent MoM decline.
The largest passenger UV maker in the country has the XUV500 as its top-selling premium offering for long but it has come under threat due to increasing competition. The arrival of Tata Harrier and MG Hector have proved to generate tough challenge for the XUV500 and the forthcoming Kia Seltos will more likely do the same with its advanced connectivity based features.
Mahindra is quick to react and is offering lucrative discounts on the MY2018 stock of the XUV500. It gets a massive cash discount of Rs. 70,000 while the 2019 XUV500 is sold with Rs. 26,000 cash discount and Rs. 10,000 worth accessories. Launched back in September 2011, the XUV500 was the first monocoque SUV from Mahindra and it was well ahead of its time.
As part of refreshing the domestic lineup, Mahindra will introduce the next generation Thar and Scorpio early next year while a brand new XUV500 is expected to launch in the closing stages of 2020. It is said to be based on a new architecture and have ground up styling with influences from Italian design Pininfarina and inputs from local HQ and MNATC in Detroit, Michigan.
Expect the 2020 Mahindra XUV500 to have several commonalities with the Ford C-SUV developed in collaboration with Mahindra as nine new SUVs are reportedly in the pipeline over the next five to six years. Due to the new architecture, it could have bigger dimensions with greater off-roading capabilities than the current model and major mechanical changes can also be expected.
The interior will get a host of standard safety and driver assistive features and the presence of larger touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity cannot be ruled out as well.
