UM Motorcycles is ready to showcase its Renegade Electric cruiser at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo that was unveiled at the 2017 EICMA in Milan. The zero emission cruiser is expected to be launched in India later this year at a price tag around Rs. 7 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The electric motorcycle will be initially available in Delhi only considering the fact that national capital has the best EV charging infrastructure.

Speaking about the motorcycle, it carries the classic retro look blended with the powerful electric powertrain. Renegade Electric draws design inspiration from the other Renegade models. But, there are significant unique design elements visible. Despite being inspired by other Renegade models, this motorcycle has been built on a completely new platform. UM Motorcycle also claims that this platform will spawn several electric powered models in future.

Renegade Electric gets a large battery pack combined with a 30 kw electric motor that churns out 50 bhp of pea power. UM Motorcycle claims that the electric cruiser is capable of running 150 kilometre on a single charge. Also, it gets fast charging technology on board that ensures the battery gets charged up to 80% in just 40 minutes. Considering the fact that India is thriving to adopt zero emission pure electric mobility across the country by 2030 under the central government’s Mission EV 2030, this could be an interesting product from the motorcycle manufacturer.

The Renegade Electric gets a large round shaped headlamp with shiny chrome bezel. It carries an all-LED lighting package. The wide handlebars along with low positioned well cushioned rider seat ensure not only great control over the machine, but offers comfortable riding stance and add style as well.

While the motorcycle looks like carrying a conventional large muscular fuel tank, it actually comes as the cover for the battery pack sitting underneath. If you look at the side, the battery pack’s position is visible.

The Renegade Electric cruiser runs on retro looking multi-spoke wheels wrapped with meaty rubbers. Braking duty in this motorcycle is done by large disk brakes on both the front and rear wheels, while for suspension duty, it relies on upside down front forks.
