TVS is conducting ‘Kargil Calling –Ride for the Real Stars’ to celebrate contribution of Indian Defence Forces; introduced a special TVS Star City Kargil Vijay Diwas Edition

On 26 July 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts of Kargil, which had been lost to Pakistan. The Kargil war between two nations extended over 60 days, but final victory was for India. Kargil Vijay Diwas was named after the success of Operation Vijay and it has been celebrated ever year on 26 July to honour Kargil War soldiers.

TVS is conducting ‘Kargil Calling –Ride for the Real Stars’ to celebrate the contribution of Indian Defence Forces and they introduced a special Kargil Vijay Diwas Edition Star City. The special edition model is finished in green and white colour combination with special graphics and ‘Kargil’ written on pillion seat.

Apart from aesthetic changes, the Star City remains same. TVS Star City is powered by 109 cc single cylinder engine producing 8.3 bhp of power at 7,000 rpm and 8.7 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. This engine is mated to 4 speed gearbox. The Kargil Vijay Diwas Edition is based on top end variant of Star City, which comes with alloy wheels and electric start.

TVS has given telescopic oil damped front suspension and 5 step adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers at rear. The Star City comes with 130 mm drum at front and 110 mm drum at rear along with 17 inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. The Kargil Vijay Diwas Edition Star City will be part of the special ride, which has been flagged off from over 3,500 touch points of TVS.

The Hosur based manufacturer is inviting everyone and you don’t need to have a TVS bike to be part of the ride. The ride will cover 4,250 km across 8 states in 20 days and it will conclude at Kargil War Memorial in Dras.  ‘Kargil Calling –Ride for the Real Stars’ will also include riders from ‘SHWET ASHW’.

They will be riding on TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi 4V 2.0 and it is finished in special white camouflage and red colour combination. The Apache RTR 200 Fi 4V 2.0 is powered by 197.75 cc single cylinder fuel injected engine producing 20.4 bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and 18.1 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. This engine is mated to 5 speed gearbox and it comes with ABS and slipper clutch.
