TVS introduced Special Edition Sport to improve sales during festival season and it comes with minor aesthetic changes

TVS Motor Company has officially launched Special Edition Sport in India at Rs. 40,088 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) and it is introduced to boost sales during festival season. Like most of the limited edition models, this one also comes with aesthetic updates as all the mechanical parts have been carried over.

The changes for Special Edition Sport start with new longer and wider seat for both passenger and pillion to make it more comfortable along with aluminium grab rails. The company has also given new stylish graphics, 3D logo and rear view mirror also gets a new design theme compared to the regular model.

The Special Edition also gets chrome finish for muffler guard. The Sport is the first model in the segment to come with Synchronised Braking Technology (SBT) as all two-wheelers under 125 cc must come with this according to the new safety rule, which will come into effect from next year onwards.

TVS has already introduced Silver alloy edition of the Sport earlier this year to improve sales and the commuter got AHO in 2017. The Sport continues to be powered by 99.7 cc single-cylinder, four-cylinder engine producing 7.4 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 7.5 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. This engine is mated to a four-speed gearbox.

The Sport also comes with all gear electric start and it is standard on most of the TVS bikes. The braking power comes from 130 mm drum brake at front and 110 mm drum at the rear. We were expecting the company to introduce disc brake at the front at least as an option to improve braking performance.

The suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and 5-step adjustable twin sided rear shock absorber, which is tuned for comfort. The commuter bikes ride on 17-inch wheels and the kerb weight is 108.5 kg. According to TVS, the Sport can return 95 kmpl which makes it one of the efficient bikes in its segment.
