TVS Ntorq completed one year in the market and the scooter registered 97 per cent growth last month
TVS sold 16,370 units of Ntorq in February 2019 compared to 8,309 units in the same month last year as the scooter completed one year in the market. The Ntorq has been a big hit for the Hosur based manufacturer as the sporty design theme along with new technology and the punchy engine made it popular among customers.
When compared to January 2019 the sales of Ntorq have improved slightly. The Ntorq is the third best selling product in the 125 cc segment behind Hero Destini 125 and Suzuki Access, which is leading the segment for a very long time. In recent months, the 125 cc scooter is performing much better than the entry level scooter segment.
TVS Jupiter continues its downward growth as the company sold 48,688 units in February 2019 compared to 63,534 units in February 2018 as the scooter sales dropped by 23 per cent. In January 2019 the Jupiter registered 23 per cent negative growth. India’s best selling scooter Honda Activa also experienced a sales drop last month.
The last update for Jupiter was in October 2018 as TVS launched a new Grande variant, which comes with minor updates like LED headlamp replaced the conventional bulb along with semi-digital instrument cluster in which speedometer is analogue, while all other information like a fuel gauge, odometer are displayed on the digital screen.
The company has also added a new Starlight Blue colour on the Jupiter and it is powered by 109.7 cc single cylinder air-cooled engine producing 8 bhp of power at 7,500 rpm and 8 Nm at 5,500 rpm, mated to a CVT gearbox. The braking duties are taken care by disc at front and drum at the rear, TVS has already added CBS technology.
TVS Ntorq is powered by newly developed 125 cc single cylinder engine producing 9.4 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 10.5 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. This engine is mated to CVT gearbox and braking power comes from 220 mm disc brake at the front and 130 mm disc at the rear. The Ntorq gets telescopic forks at the front and twin-tube gas charged suspension at the rear.
