TVS has registered a new trademark for the Apache RTX name in India; likely be the new adventure bike based on the existing 310cc platform

The adventure bike segment is currently booming in India and all the major players are after it. The next big two-wheeler brand to join the bandwagon is none other than TVS Motor Company. A new trademark for the name TVS Apache RTX has been registered in the trademark journal and it gives a clear hint that the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer is venturing into the ADV space.

The new adventure bike will be based on the existing 310cc platform and will rival the likes of the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 452, KTM 390 Adventure, upcoming Hero Xpulse 400 and Yezdi Adventure amongst others. The 310cc platform which is shared by BMW and TVS serves in a variety of motorcycles including the latest TVS Apache RTR 310, Apache RR 310, BMW G 310 R, BMW G 310 RR and BMW G 310 GS.

It is no secret that the new adventure bike will use the same powerhouse and it will be TVS’s version of the BMW adventure bike, the G 310 GS. This means there will be a lot of part sharing including the main frame and this will cut down on the development time.

Going by this, we can expect the Apache RTX 310 to debut next year in 2024. The design will be the major differentiating element from the BMW counterpart and TVS will employ an aggressive styling for the Apache RTX. It will be offered in multiple variants and colour choices, as we have already seen in the RTR 310.

Expect the bike to be loaded with top-notch hardware and features like USD forks, LED lights, a fully digital instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity, switchable rear ABS and more. Powering the TVS’s first adventure bike will be the familiar 312cc single cylinder liquid cooled engine producing 34 bhp and 28 Nm of peak torque.

It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and the top speed is rated at 143 kmph. Much like the G 310 GS, the Apache RTX will use 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels with a cast aluminium swing arm. The pricing is expected to be in the Rs. 3 lakh (ex-showroom) ballpark.
