TVS offers single-channel ABS system with Apache RTR 160 and it is priced at a premium of Rs. 6000 over the regular model
TVS has already updated the new Apache RTR 160 4V with ABS system and now the company has launched the RTR 160 ABS in India. The RTR 160 is available with disc and drum brake set up along with front and rear disc brake also. To keep cost down, TVS introduced the Apache RTR 160 with single channel ABS braking system.
The ABS system is priced at a premium of Rs. 6000 over the non-ABS model, which will be discontinued as all bikes above 125 cc must come with the ABS braking system and the deadline given is April 1, 2019. Apart from the ABS braking system, the company hasn’t made any other mechanical changes.
TVS Apache RTR 160 is available in seven colour options – Grey, White, Red, Matte Red, Matte Blue, Black, White and Red. The entry-level performance bike is powered by 160 cc single cylinder engine producing 15 bhp of power at 8,500 rpm and 13 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The braking duties are handled by 270 mm disc at the front, 200 mm disc at the rear and 130 mm drum. The Apache RTR 160 comes with telescopic forks at the front and dual gas charged suspension at the rear. The suspension is tuned for handling and the bikes ride on 17-inch wheels with 90/90 section tyre at the front and 100/80 section tyre at the rear.
The fuel tank capacity is 16 litres and the reserve is 2.5 litres. Most of the owners are getting around 50 km/l and the range is around 800 km with a full tank of fuel. The top speed of Apache RTR 160 is 118 Km/h and wheelbase is 1,300 mm. The bike tips the scale at 137 kg and the ground clearance is 165 mm.
Over the years, TVS hasn’t changed the design of Apache RTR 160 and it is one of the few bikes in the segment, which comes with analogue tachometer and all other information is displayed on the digital instrument cluster. The disc and drum model with ABS is priced at Rs. 84,710 and rear disc variant at Rs. 87,719 (both price, Ex-Showroom).
