The upcoming Triumph Speed Twin has been leaked ahead of the global debut and it is powered by the same 1200 engine from Thruxton
The modern retro design theme bikes are so popular around the world and Triumph is one of the prominent players in this segment. The company is planning to introduce a new model in this series and it was previewed for the first time at the Triumph Motorcycles global dealer conference.
In August, a leaked filling with the California Air Resource Bureau (CARB) confirmed that the upcoming model would be named as Triumph Speed Twin. The design takes inspiration from Bonneville T120 and Thruxton as the production model looks really beautiful and it could become one of the key reasons for its popularity.
The Speed Twin comes with black alloy wheels and it will be the first model in Bonneville series not to come with wire-spoke wheels, but it gives a modern appeal to the new model. The company has given round headlamps and the fender also gets a chrome finish. The exhaust unit is equally impressive as well.
The retro-modern bike comes with single piece handlebar and two-pod instrument cluster, which gets the analogue and digital layout. The simple design of fuel tank is really attractive and the long seat is designed to make it comfortable for both rider and pillion. Triumph is expected to give LED tail lamp too.
Triumph Speed Twin will be powered by a 1,200 cc engine from Thruxton but the engine spec is expected to be similar as the Bonneville T120. This engine puts out 79 bhp of power at 6,550 rpm and 105 Nm of torque at 3,100 rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox and it will be packed with lots of technologies.
The company has given dual disc brakes at front and a single disc at the rear, and dual channel ABS system will be standard on Speed Twin. The debut is expected to take place at EICMA later this year and sales will begin in early 2019. Triumph might bring the Speed Twin by the end of 2019 to India.
