The Scrambler T4 will be the entry-level variant of the 400X as it will miss out on premium features and get a lower tune of power output

Triumph Motorcycles India is planning to introduce an entry-level variant of the Scrambler 400X in the country. The British motorcycle brand recently launched the Speed T4 – a budget-friendly variant of the Speed 400 – in the Indian market and now on similar lines, it is readying an affordable version of the Scrambler 400X. Recently, the Scrambler T4 was spied on camera during its test runs by onlinetech918 and the video gives us a clear idea of things to come. Triumph Scrambler T4 could be a worthy rival to the base trims of the upcoming Royal Enfield Scram 440 and Hero Mavrick Scrambler 440.

The spy video confirms that the particular unit spotted is indeed going to be the stripped-down variant of the Scrambler 400X. The bike seems to be undergoing emission testing as indicated by the sensors near the exhaust pipe. Hence, it is entirely possible that Triumph could make certain tweaks to the engine, including a lower state of power output.

Taking a leaf out of Speed T4’s book, The brand might replace the electronic throttle control with a manual unit with lesser power output. For reference, the Speed T4 comes with a power of 30.6 bhp at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 36 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The 6-speed gearbox is expected to be carried over with no modifications at all.

Triumph Scrambler T4 could also lose out on some of the premium features that the 400X is available with. The company gave the same treatment to the Speed T4 and axed a few bells and whistles to keep the pricing aggressive. The spy video shows the bike equipped with USD front forks sans the golden colour that we have seen in the Scrambler 400X. Even the split-seat setup of the 400X has gone for a toss in favour of a simple and traditional single-piece seat.

Upon a closer look at the rear section, one can see a different tail-lamp cluster while the grab rail too appears to be ordinary. The absence of rubber pads on the fuel tank is clearly visible. The handlebar is also simple sans the brace pads. We cannot spot the knuckle guards as well and there might well be multiple tiny changes in the Scrambler T4.

The front profile is completely retained with a similar headlamp and mudguard. The semi-digital instrument cluster is also the same that we have seen on the other 400cc Triumph motorcycles in India. However, the alloy wheel design is different and it could get leaner tyres. The spotted model looks production-ready and might launch in the next couple of months. Triumph Scrambler T4 price could start at Rs 2.40 lakh which is nearly Rs 25,000 less than the Scrambler 400X.
