Toyota is preparing to launch the Yaris sedan in Thailand that will be based on the Yaris premium hatchback. Upon arrival, the sedan will be positioned below Toyota Vios. Currently, it is being tested in Thailand ahead of the launch. India launch of this sedan is not confirmed yet, but we can expect it to arrive in the country in future post Yaris hatchback’s launch here.

Interestingly, upcoming Toyota Yaris sedan will be bigger than the India-bound Vios sedan. Dimensionally, this sedan will appear with 4,425 mm of length, 1,730 mm of width, 1,475 mm of height and it will also have 2,550 mm of wheelbase ensuring ample space for the occupants. So, the Yaris sedan is 5 mm longer and 30 mm wider compared to the Vios.

Test mules of the Yaris sedan have been spotted on roads in Thailand and as it appears, it is inspired by the new Toyota Corolla Altis. Also there will be significant similarities with the Yaris hatchback as well. It will have sleek and sharp long LED headlamps, plenty of chrome garnishing at the hexagonal front grille and a wide air intake as well.

The overall design of this car will deliver a premium vibe just like its hatchback sibling. There will be 15-inch alloy wheels, sharp and sleek creases at the side profile, slim LED taillights at back. Interior of the sedan will also come with premium look and upmarket features like a touchscreen infotainment system with various connectivity options, rear parking camera, automatic climate control etc.

On the powertrain front, Toyota Yaris sedan will get a 1.2-litre 3NR-FE petrol engine coupled with a Super CVT-i gearbox. This engine will churn out 86 PS of peak power and 108 Nm of peak torque. It will compete with rivals like Suzuki Ciaz and Nissan Almera in the Thai market. If the Japanese automaker decides to launch it in Indian market as well, we may see the car at 2018 New Delhi Auto Expo. However, there is no official confirmation about it yet.
