Toyota Yaris Crosses 10,000 Unit Sales Mark In India

2018 Toyota Yaris Review India-10

The Toyota Yaris, which rivals hotshots like Ciaz, Honda City and Verna, has finally managed to sell more than 10,000 units in India after 8 months of its launch

The Toyota Yaris was launched in late-April 2018, and while it received a positive response from the car buyers initially, it hasn’t been able to give a tough fight to popular models like the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna. In December 2018, Toyota Kirloskar Motor could sell only 389 units of the sedan. However, its cumulative sales figure for last month stands at 10,799 units.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has been trying hard to pump up the demand for its Maruti Ciaz and Honda City rival by offering some nice discounts. Select variants of the Toyota Yaris are currently available with benefits worth Rs 1 lakh. These discounts are being offered through Rs 42,000 worth of free accessories, Rs 30,000 exchange bonus, and Rs 18,000 worth of insurance benefit. Certain dealerships are even offering an additional discount of up to INR 30,000.

The Toyota Yaris is available with a petrol engine only. The car is powered by a 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 108 PS and a peak torque of 140 Nm. Transmission options include a six-speed manual transmission and a seven-step CVT with paddle shifters and cruise control. The Maruti Ciaz and Honda City rival is available in four variants – J, G, V and VX.

The newest C2-segment sedan in the country also rivals other established brands like the Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento. The reason for it to be available in only a petrol variant, in spite of the availability of a 1.4-litre turbo-diesel option on the Corolla Altis, is the fast dropping demand for petrol cars in India. Also, the Yaris offers the highest number of active and passive safety features in the country.

All variants of the Toyota Yaris come with seven airbags and disc brake on all four wheels. Also, all the trims get ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution). Furthermore, the car gets TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), ESP (Electronic Stability Control), Traction Control, HHA (Hill Hold Assist), reverse parking sensors and camera, proximity sensors, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

Other key features available on the Toyota Yaris include High Solar Energy-Absorbing (HSEA), acoustic and vibration control glass, electric driver’s seat, roof mounted AC vents, ambient illumination for rear passengers, keyless entry, push-button start/stop, and multi-function steering wheel.
