Toyota sold a total of 19,608 units in the month of June 2023 as against 16,515 units during the same period last year with a YoY growth of 18.75 per cent
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) registered a sales tally of 19,608 units in the month of June 2023 as against 16,515 units during the same period last year with a YoY positive volume increase of 18.75 per cent. The Japanese auto major has been recording decent sales numbers courtesy of the Innova Hycross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner, Glanza and Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
It is no secret that Toyota is making use of its partnership with Suzuki to full effect as the Glanza is a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyryder midsize SUV has several commonalities with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. For instance, the Hyryder is equipped with the 1.5L mild-hybrid K15C four-cylinder petrol engine from Maruti Suzuki.
In addition, the Hyryder also sits on the Global C platform of Suzuki. However, the 1.5L three-cylinder strong hybrid Atkinson Cycle TNGA petrol engine belongs to Toyota and both SUVs are rolled out of its production facility in Bidadi, Karnataka. Toyota introduced the Innova Hycross late last year and it has been well-received by customers.
The volume numbers of the updated 2023 Innova Crysta have also been impressive. Up next, Maruti Suzuki will launch the Invicto premium MPV, which is the rebadged version of the Toyota Innova Hycross. Unlike the Hycross, the Invicto will only be available with the 2.0L strong hybrid petrol engine and reports indicate that ADAS and other high-end features may not be offered to carry a competitive pricing.
The Maruti Suzuki Invicto will be launched on July 5 and Toyota is expected to bring in the badge-engineered version of the Ertiga and the Fronx in the near future while the new-gen Vellfire will debut later this year. The high demand for its products meant that Toyota commenced a third shift at its manufacturing unit to reduce the waiting period and it has been effective in recent weeks.
Speaking of the sales performance in June 2023, Atul Sood, Vice President of Sales and Strategic Marketing at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “Toyota Kirloskar Motor continues to post strong sales growth, thanks to the robust performance of our entire product range we achieved a remarkable growth of 19% in the month of June. Ever since the launch of Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Innova Hycross, we are witnessing continued high acceptance by our customers.”
