Toyota Innova Hycross GX(O) is around Rs. 1 lakh costlier than the GX and for that premium, it gets a host of new features

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has introduced the new top-end Innova Hycross GX(O) petrol variant with a starting price of Rs. 20.99 lakh for the seven-seater and it goes up to Rs. 21.13 lakh for the eight-seater configuration (ex-showroom). The new variant is around Rs. 1 lakh costlier than the GX and for that premium, it gets a host of new features.

The customer deliveries are imminent and equipment such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen Infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control system, soft-touch finish on the dashboard and door panels, new fabric seat covers, a 360-degree camera system, rear defogger and parking sensors at the front are available.

The cabin gains a chestnut finish adding a more upmarket feel. Interestingly, the eight-seater misses out on some of the aforementioned features including the 10.1-inch touchscreen display and retractable rear sunshade and is Rs. 14,000 less expensive. A total of seven colour schemes have been presented but no mechanical changes have been made.

The paint options are Blackish Ageha Glass Flake, Sparkling Black Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Metallic, Super White, Avant Garde Bronze Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Attitude Black Mica. The 2.0L NA four-cylinder petrol engine continues to develop a maximum power output of 174 hp and 205 Nm, and is mated to a CVT automatic transmission only.

This combination enables a claimed fuel economy of 16.13 kmpl. The same powertrain, in its hybrid guise, churns out 184 hp and 188 Nm with an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 23.24 kmpl but the Hycross GX(O) is only retailed with the non-hybrid version. In India, the Toyota Innova Hycross competes with its rebadged sibling, the Maruti Suzuki Invicto.

It will get a new rival in the form of the new generation Kia Carnival in the coming months. The fourth-gen premium MPV will get an assortment of revisions inside and out compared to the old model and it will likely be powered by a 2.2L four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 200 PS and 440 Nm of peak torque. It will be mated to an eight-speed AT only.
