Toyota has launched the much awaited Innova Touring Sports in India, which is a sportier and slightly accessorised version of the regular Innova Crysta. The Toyota Innova Touring Sports comes priced between Rs. 17.79 lakh and Rs. 22.15 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), which is at a higher range than the regular model. With the Touring Sport, Toyota tried to inject sportiness in the popular large MPV, thanks to the additional cosmetic kits.
Mechanically, the Toyota Innova Touring Sport remains same as the regular model. Being based on the top trim, it offers all the features and some additional ones too. It appears taking the game up further for the premium looking MPV. Here in this spec-sheet based comparison we take a look at the main highlights between these two models:
Toyota Innova Crysta vs Toyota Innova Touring Sport – Exterior
Speaking about the design of the Toyota Innova Touring Sport, it comes with the identical design and silhouette as the regular Innova Crysta. Only difference is that the Innova Touring Sports gets extensive chrome garnishing in form of the smoked chrome trims around the all-black front grille and at the front bumper. The headlamps and fog lamp bezel too gets chrome ornamenting and the black body cladding also makes it distinctive than its regular sibling.
At the side profile, the Toyota Innova Touring Sport incorporates black wheel-arch cladding and rocker mould with chrome inserts. The rear too receives chrome trim at the black body cladding positioned at the bumper, but it doesn’t cover the full width of the MPV. Apart from that, a thick shiny black bar is also present running between the taillights and the reflector too appears with chrome surrounding. The Toyota Innova Touring Sports runs on 17-inch matte black alloy wheels compared to the regular Innova Crysta’s 16-inch shiny alloy wheels.
Apart from these little changes, the Innova Touring Sports too comes with a muscular tone visible all around the body. It gets sharper headlamps with projector lamps and integrated LED daytime running lights, large and unusual shaped fog lamps, flared fenders, turn indicator integrated ORVMs, blackened glass area with the rear end shaped diagonally, an integrated roof spoiler, boomerang shaped taillights and a chunky bumper as well. The Touring Sports is exclusively available in Wildfire Red paint scheme along with White Pearl Crystal Shine.

The Toyota Innova Touring Sport comes with identical dimensional figures to the regular model. Both the cars get 4,735 mm of length, 1,830 mm of width, 1,795 mm of height and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. Only difference is that the newly launched model gets 17-inch alloy wheels compared to regular models 16-inch alloy wheels. Both the cars appear with 174 mm of ground clearance and a fuel tank capacity of 65-litre.

Inside the cabin too, Toyota Innova Touring Sport comes featuring distinctive appearance compared to the Innova Crysta. Newly launched sporty variant of the MPV is exclusively available in six-seater version with the captain seats wrapped in premium black leather. In terms of additional styling and features compared to the standard model, the Innova Touring Sport gets multi-function steering wheel with black wood trim and sporty red contrast stitching.
Apart from that, it gets 3D design combination meter with large TFT Multi Information Display (MID), red wood trim on the dashboard, black wood finished rear door inner garnishing, tables positioned at the back of the front seats and on the console box as well. The seat, console box and gear shifter, parking brake lever comes with sporty red contrast stitching. Apart from that, the space and overall design is same as the regular model.

The Toyota Innova Touring Sport comes available in both petrol and diesel engine options, just like the regular model. The engines are same along with the power and torque output. The petrol model is powered by a 2.7-litre VVT-i engine and capable of churning out 164 bhp of peak power at 5,200 rpm and 245 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm.

On the safety front, the Toyota Innova Touring Sport doesn’t get any additional features compared to its regular sibling. Toyota Innova Crysta has received pretty good positive response post its launch in the country in 2016. In just one year, the premium looking MPV has sold more than 85,000 units in the domestic market, which clearly shows its popularity. With the introduction of the all-new Innova Touring Sport variant, the appeal of the MPV is expected to increase to a new level, as it has added more zing to the car.
Pricing difference between the regular model and the Innova Touring Sports is not too big. But considering the fact that the sporty version only comes with couple of additional cosmetic upgrades over the standard model, customers should think before opting towards buying the Innova Touring Sport and evaluate whether it is worthy spending that extra money or not, as performance wise the new variant remains the same as the regular Innova Crysta.
