Kia will officially debut in India next year, after launching the SP Concept SUV, the carmaker will bring a range of products including the Innova-rivalling Carnival
Kia Motors has been working to make debut in India. The South Korean automotive giant has already confirmed that their first-ever vehicle in the Indian market would be a SUV based on the SP Concept that they showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The production version of the SP Concept would take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. Kia would also bring in a range of products to the market including a Toyota Innova Crysta rival, Kia Grand Carnival. Kia has been studying the market for the launch of the new product for a long time now and the launch of the all-new vehicle has now been confirmed.
The MPV would be launched in the Indian market by 2020 and would be placed directly against the Toyota Innova Crysta in the market. Kia has been offering test-drives of the Carnival to the automotive publications and it seems that the brand has received a very positive feedback.
Sun Wook Hwang, senior GM, marketing and PR, Kia Motors India said that the brand is expected to sell around 1,000 units of the Grand Carnival. The Kia Grand Carnival is a global product and is available in various configurations of up to 11 seats. However, the Indian market is expected to get the 7-seat version that would take on the highly-successful Toyota Innova Crysta.
It should be noted that Toyota Innova Crysta sells around 7,000 units every month and is positioned as a premium product. The Kia Grand Carnival is quite bigger in size than the Toyota Innova Crysta. The price is expected to be around Rs. 2-3 lakhs more expensive than the Innova Crysta but the exact price would be known closer to the launch.
Kia is planning to target the cream of the customers who want exquisite luxuries. The Grand Carnival would offer features like panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control system, curtain airbags and multiple charging USB ports.
