Toyota Hilux is equipped with a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine developing 201 bhp and up to 500 Nm of peak torque

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) introduced the Hilux pickup truck in the domestic market early last calendar year. The Hilux has been one of the highly anticipated launches from the brand and thus it has been well received by customers with the first lot of units sold out in no time due to the high demand and the production issues that ensued.

It appears that the reservations for the Hilux have reopened across dealerships present in the country and buyers can also book the model via the brand’s official website. Toyota has done a good job of maintaining the same prices for the 2023 Hilux. It is priced at Rs. 33.99 lakh for Std, Rs. 35.80 lakh for High and Rs. 36.80 lakh for High AT trims (ex-showroom).

The Toyota Hilux derives power from a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that can also be found in the Fortuner full-sized SUV. The powertrain is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 201 bhp and 420 Nm of peak torque when linked with a six-speed manual transmission. The automatic unit increases the torque to 500 Nm.

The lifestyle pickup truck has plenty in common with the Fortuner. It shares the iMV body-on-frame platform with the Fortuner and Innova Crysta. The Hilux can be bought in a total of five exterior paint schemes namely Emotional Red, White Pearl Shine, Silver Metallic, Gray Metallic and Super White. The load-carrying capacity stands at 470 litres.

It has an approach angle of 29 degrees and a departure angle of 26 degrees. The equipment list comprises an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, leather seat upholstery, cooled glovebox, automatic climate control, steering wheel with mounted controls, reverse parking camera, etc.

It also boasts a semi-digital instrument cluster, engine start/stop button, electrically adjustable driver seat and a standard four-wheel-drive system. Toyota recently launched the Innova Hycross premium MPV based on the TNGA-C platform in India and is powered by a 2.0-litre NA petrol and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TNGA Atkinson Cycle strong hybrid petrol engine.
