Toyota Glanza will be sold only with the BSVI compliant 1.2-litre DualJet SHVS and 1.2-litre VVT petrol engines
Toyota Kirloskar Motor is all set to launch the Glanza B2 segment hatchback on June 6 and it has started reaching dealerships. To Compete against Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo the Glanza will have a brand new rival in the form of Tata Altroz in the coming months as well.
The Glanza is the first product to have come out of the Toyota-Suzuki partnership that deals with electrification, hybridisation, joint production and development of new vehicles along with car sharing on global as well as domestic scale. The Glanza is the rebadged version of the Baleno with minor visual changes.
Except for the brand and variant badges besides thick horizontal slats on the front grille, the Glanza remains the same as the Baleno. The major differentiator is that Glanza will be offered in feature-loaded G and V grades and it will get 3 year/1 lakh km standard warranty as opposed to the Baleno’s 2-year/40,000 km.
Both the variants will be sold only in petrol engines as the G can be had in either the newly introduced 1.2-litre DualJet SHVS petrol or 1.2-litre VVT unit. The former is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 89 bhp and 113 Nm and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The latter develops 83 bhp and 115 Nm and is connected to a five-speed MT or a CVT.
The petrol duo is BSVI compliant already and it won’t be a different case on the Glanza. The V variant, on the other hand, will be retailed only with the 1.2-litre VVT petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission options.
Some of the key features in the G model are seven-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, reversing sensors, front seatbelt reminder, high-speed warning system, front fog lamps, rear defogger plus wiper, LED projector headlights, power adjustable and folding wing mirrors, 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, four-speaker audio and two tweeters, central locking system with keyless entry, push button start/stop, automatic climate control, 60:40 split rear seats, rear armrest and ISOFIX child mounts.
The top-spec V variant of the Glanza gains leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear parking camera, automatic LED headlamps with follow-me-home function over the G model.
