Upcoming Toyota Glanza is basically a rebadged Maruti Baleno that will launch on 6th June, it becomes the first cross-badged product from the Suzuki-Toyota alliance

The cat is finally out of the bag! After being teased recently, a couple of spy images of the upcoming Toyota Glanza, which is nothing but a rebadged Maruti Baleno that you will be soon able to buy from a Toyota dealership, has been spotted completely undisguised.

The rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno launches next month. The Toyota Glanza can help the company grab a bigger market share in the B-segment, where the sales of the Toyota Etios Liva have remained nothing to write home about. The Glanza becomes the first cross-badged product to have come from the Suzuki-Toyota alliance.

As was expected, the Glanza looks almost completely like the Maruti Baleno, with the changes restricted to a new grille and different badges. The new upper grille gives the car a slightly more sophisticated look due to its chrome finish. The rear gets name badges. Else, the car is exactly the same as the recently updated Maruti Baleno.

Even the alloy wheels are the same as those of the facelifted Maruti Baleno launched in February 2019, while in traditional Toyota fashion, the top-spec Alpha trim becomes the V variant. The Zeta should be called the ‘G’ version.

The entry-level Sigma and Delta models won’t be offered by Toyota. Even the interior is likely to have remained highly unchanged, with the company expected to have restricted itself to simply updating the upholstery and the colour trim. The infotainment unit could have got slight changes.

The only engine option that will be available will be the BSVI-compliant K12B motor, which should be available with both five-speed manual and CVT options. The Glanza will be sold with a 3-year/1,00,000 kms warranty.

In comparison, the Maruti Baleno is available only with a 2-year/40,000 kms standard warranty. It is expected that the Toyota Glanza would cost slightly more than the comparable variants of the Maruti Baleno.
