Toyota Fortuner Sales Down By 40%, Endeavour Up By 25% In June 2019

March 2019 Sales Comparison Of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour And Mahindra Alturas G4

Toyota Fortuner continued to lead the segment but met with 40 per cent YoY sales decline in June 2019

Toyota Fortuner has been the undisputed leader in the full-sized SUV segment and in FY2019 a total of 21,141 units were retailed with diesel variants contributing to 99 per cent of the tally. In June 2019, the Japanese manufacturer retailed 1,223 units of the Fortuner. Despite being on top, it faced a huge YoY decline of 40 per cent as 2,041 units were retailed during the same month last year.

Ford Endeavour plays second-fiddle to the Fortuner but it ended the month with encouraging signs. The American SUV garnered 716 units of the Endeavour as against 573 units during the corresponding month in 2018 at 25 per cent sales increase. Volkswagen’s Tiguan, on the other hand, posted 169 units with 44 per cent YoY sales jump.

Mahindra launched the Alturas G4 late last year and it settled in the fourth position with 109 units ahead of Skoda Kodiaq. The Fortuner is almost certain to continue in its position just as the Innova Crysta during the course of this year. The entry-level variant is priced close to Rs. 28 lakh and it goes all the way up to Rs. 33.60 lakh for the range-topping model (ex-showroom).
