Mahindra officially launched XUV 500 facelift last month at the starting price of Rs. 12.38 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai). The XUV 500 is available in 5 variants – W5, W7, W9, W11 and W11 (O). According to dealers, the most popular variant among customers is W11 (O) top end variant and it is priced Rs. 4000 cheaper than W10 top end variant of previous model.

The W11 (O) is the only variant which gets 18 inch diamond cut alloy wheels and according to dealers this is one of the reasons why customers are going for the W11 (O). The top end variant also comes with new leather upholstery, electric sunroof, electrically adjustable driver seat, new touch screen infotainment system and more.

2018 Mahindra XUV500 Launched In India - Price, Specs, Images, Interior, Features, Updates 13Mahindra has completely redesigned the rear as the XUV 500 comes with new tail lamps and updated rear door which does improve the look. The front also gets new bumper and tweaked grille and headlamps. According to dealers, customers tend to like the XUV 500 when they see it in person compared to images in which most of them didn’t like the design of updated XUV 500.

The XUV 500 also gets two new colour options – Crimson Red and Mystic Copper. The latter one is the popular choice among the new colours but still white is the preferred choice for most of the customers. The pre-facelift model was facing stiff competition from Tata Hexa and Jeep Compass, which meant that the sales has go down by 1481 units in the last financial year.

2018 Mahindra XUV500 Launched In India - Price, Specs, Images, Interior, Features, Updates 4Once the new model’s launch, the sales began to pick up again as the average booking has gone up from 30 to 35 units in urban areas and in tier II cities from 8 to 15 units which is a significant rise for a model which cost around 18 lakh on-road. Mahindra officially opened bookings for XUV 500 facelift model 20 days ahead of the launch.

Mahindra XUV 500 is powered by 2.2 L mHawk engine producing 155 bhp of power at 3,750 rpm and 360 Nm of torque between 1750 – 2800 rpm. This engine is mated to 6 speed manual and automatic transmission. The XUV 500 also get petrol engine which produces 140 bhp and it is available only with a single variant which is priced at Rs. 15.43 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Mumbai).
