1. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Suzuki introduced the second generation Ertiga earlier this year and it is going to be introduced in India on November 21. The new Ertiga is based on the Heartect platform, which already underpins Swift, Dzire and Baleno in India. The company has increased the dimensions of the new model as length increased by 99 mm, width by 40 mm and height by 5 mm.

But the wheelbase remains the same at 2,740 mm and to improve the interior space, the boot volume had to be reduced by 35 litres as the company is focusing on space in the second and third row. The design of the new model is completely different from its predecessor as front get new grille along with swept back projector headlamps and a new grille.

Maruti has also given a new design for alloy wheels and third-row glass gets a new design theme. The tail lamp design took inspirations from Volvo models and the company has given chrome bar on top of number plate holder. These engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual and 4-speed auto with a petrol engine.

2. Mahindra Alturas

Mahindra Alturas will be launched in India on November 24th and it is basically the rebadged version of SsangYong Rexton, which made its global debut last year. The earlier Rexton didn’t sell well in India, so the company decided to rebrand the model as Mahindra and given a new name to compete against established rivals in the market.

The exterior design is almost similar to Rexton but the company has made some changes like chrome finished grille along with new front and rear bumpers. The Alturas also comes with new alloy wheels and windows get chrome lining to give a premium look. The interior has been carried over from Rexton.

The fit and finish of Alturas are much better than other Mahindra products as the company has given three different layers for the dashboard in which top gets soft touch plastic. The middle layer is finished in wood finish and lower parts get the leather finish to further lift the appeal of the cabin as this texture is used in seats and door pad.

The Alturas is loaded with features like 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, push button start, sunroof, cruise control, reverse camera with parking sensors, automatic tailgate, rain sensing wipers and more.

3. Tata H7X

Tata Motors confirmed during the introduction of H5X concept at the 2018 Auto Expo that they will introduce a seven-seater model based on this and it is codenamed as H7X. The production version of H5X is named as Harrier and it will be introduced early next year. The H7X will be based on the same OMEGA platform as Harrier.

This platform is derived from Land Rover Discovery Sport D8 platform and the company has replaced expensive aluminium parts with steel to keep cost down. The H7X is expected to be a similar size to Discovery Sport and the third row is expected to offer decent space also. The exterior design will be based on impact design philosophy.

The front might continue the dual headlamp setup from Harrier as LED tail lamps occupy the top position and projector headlamps are positioned below it along with fog lamps. The production model might come with 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels while the rear gets new LED tail lamps and a new bumper with reflectors integrated into it.

4. Renault RBC

Renault is currently working on a new MPV, which is codenamed as RBC and it will be based on CMF-A+ platform. The French manufacturer decided to use this platform as it is heavily localized in India and it will help the company to price the upcoming model aggressively. The design of MPV is expected to be similar to Kwid hatchback.

Like the Datsun Go and Go+ models, the RBC will share lots of components with Kwid. The front gets the same grille as Kwid along with big headlamps with projectors and a new bumper with fog lamps. The company has also given black plastic cladding running across the body to give a rugged look for the MPV.

The rear gets wraparound tail lamps with a new bumper. Renault has given smaller 13-inch wheels for entry-level models, while the top end variant comes with 14-inch alloy wheels with slightly wider tyres to improve stability. The interior design is expected to be carried over from Kwid hatchback but the quality might improve.

The MPV will be loaded with touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted controls, power windows, rearview camera with parking sensors and more. The RBC will be powered by 1.0 L three-cylinder petrol engine from Kwid with an option of a manual and AMT gearbox. The company is expected to introduce the model by the middle of 2019.

5. Datsun Go-Cross

Datsun revealed the Go-Cross Concept at the 2016 Auto Expo and the production model made its debut earlier this year in Jakarta, Indonesia. The company is expected to introduce Go-Cross in early 2019 and it is going to compete against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which is the best selling model in its segment.

The Go-Cross is based on Go+ MPV and the facelift model was launched last month in India. The front gets swept back headlamps with fog lamps placed just below it. The bumper also gets a new design theme and the company has given black plastic cladding running across the body for crossover look.

The rear gets new tail lamps along with an integrated spoiler and faux skid plates. The interior design is carried over from Go+ as the Cross model comes with a touchscreen infotainment system in the middle with rectangular AC vents. We can some features like automatic headlamps and rain sensing wipers to be part of the package.

The engine lineup includes a 1.2 L petrol engine from Go+ MPV and it produces 69 PS of power at 5,000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and CVT automatic gearbox. We can expect good efficiency from this engine and a diesel engine might be introduced later.
