Maruti Suzuki recently launched the new generation Ertiga MPV in India with prices starting from Rs. 7.44 lakh onwards (ex-showroom). The new Ertiga is available with both petrol and diesel engines and the good news is that it now gets a new and more powerful 1.5-litre petrol engine under its hood which replaces the old unit.
It has also become more premium and feature rich in its new avatar along with several changes to the exterior and interior. So without wasting any time, let us get straight into the details of the top 5 things that you should know about the new Ertiga.
Price
Prices for the new generation Ertiga petrol starts from Rs. 7.44 Lakh onward while the top-spec variant is priced around Rs. 9.50 lakhs (ex-showroom). The petrol automatic range is priced within Rs. 9.18 Lakh -9.95 Lakh. The prices for the diesel Ertiga range, on the other hand, starts from Rs. 8.84 Lakh onward while the top diesel variant is priced at Rs. 10.90 Lakhs.
Standard Features
The new generation Ertiga gets projector halogen headlamps and LED taillamps as standard on its exterior. For the safety of the passengers the Ertiga offers a number of advanced safety features as standard including dual airbag, ABS and EBD, Isofix child seat anchorage, rear parking sensor, high-speed alert system etc.
On the inside the 2018 Ertiga gets an air cooled twin cup holders, power and tilt steering, second row 60:40 split and recline seats and third row split (50:50 ratio) seats with recline.
Design
The new generation Ertiga gets a new design language that makes it a much better and sharp looking car as compared to the previous generation model. Compared to its predecessor the new generation Ertiga gets slimmer angular headlamps with projector units, a new C-Shaped housing for fog lamps and some chrome detailing on its updated grille.
Towards the rear, there is a new Boomerang shaped LED taillamps which somehow looks inspired from the Volvo. It now also gets a new greenhouse design which makes the interior look more spacious.
Engine Specs With Mileage
The new Ertiga like we already said gets a new bigger and more powerful 1.5 Liter K15 petrol engine under its hood which replaces the old 1.4 Liter unit. The new petrol engine makes 103 Bhp of peak power and 138 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox while there is also a 4 speed automatic transmission on offer as well.
The diesel variant, on the other hand, continues to be powered by the same 1.3-liter DDIS 200 engine which makes 89 Bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of torque. The engine is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox only.

Both the engine gets SHVS mild hybrid systems for better fuel efficiency figures. The petrol manual variant promises to return around 19.34 kmpl while the automatic variant claims around 18.69 Km to a liter. The diesel variant on the other hand promise to return around 25. 47 kmpl.
Practical all 3 rows with Recline & middle row sliding as well
The new Ertiga uses the additional space of the car quite well. While the second-row seats get recline and can be adjusted in a 40:60 ratio. The third-row seats on the Ertiga is also a lot more spacious and get a better shoulder room. Accessing the third-row seats have also become a lot easier now because it gets a one-touch mechanism which helps in sliding forward the middle row seat quite easily.
The third-row passenger seat is quite comfortable now as well because it gets a recline function. The windows are also bigger while there is also a dedicated roof-mounted blower with four fan speeds for the comfort of the passenger.
