KTM RC125 India Launch, Price, Specs

The RC 125 will be the cheapest full faired motorcycle from KTM that will be positioned below the RC 200

The upcoming RC 125 was spotted testing on the roads of Pune about a month ago. The surprising thing is that the motorcycle is being produced in India for many years and exported to the international market. After it was spotted testing recently there is a buzz that KTM might have plans to introduce their entry-level fully-faired offering in the country.

That said, if KTM decides to launch this motorcycle in India this could be a potential threat to some popular rivals like Yamaha and Bajaj. Although we are not exactly sure when KTM will actually launch the upcoming RC 125, here are the top 5 reasons why we think the Austrian two-wheeler manufacturer should launch their full faired entry-level sportsbike in the country.

1. A budget friendly full faired motorcycle from KTM

The Duke 125 was a huge success after KTM launched it in India towards the beginning of the year 2019. The reason for its success was the fact that it was priced quite aggressively and was the cheapest KTM to be launched in the country. The Duke 125 is based on the Duke 200 platform and is the only motorcycle in the segment that came loaded with many premium features that no other 125cc motorcycle offered until now.

The RC 125 too will also be the most affordable full faired offering from KTM that will be positioned below the RC 200 making it accessible to many young buyers who do not have the budget to own the RC200 which is priced around Rs. 1.78 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

2. The RC 125 shares its Parts with Duke 125

The KTM RC 125 will be manufactured in the same assembly plant where they also assemble the Duke 125 as well and thus logistically it won’t be much of a hassle for KTM to actually manufacture the RC 125. The motorcycle will share most the engine, chassis and other cycle parts with the entry-level Duke.

3. Will be an ideal rival to the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0

There is no denying the fact that the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 is the only fully faired motorcycle in the 125-150cc category and thus it also sells in huge numbers. If KTM decides to launch the RC 125 then it will be able to lock horns directly with the R15 V3.0 in this price segment and thus helping KTM to expand their reach to a wider audience.

4. Plenty of features to attract the attention of the buyers

There is no denying the fact that the RC 125 just like the recently launched Duke 125 will be one of the most loaded motorcycles of its segment. The RC 125 will offer a projector headlamp, fully digital instrument cluster, clip-on handlebars, WP suspension setup on both ends with 43mm USD forks with 125mm travel up front and a monoshock setup at the rear.

The motorcycle will also offer the best braking setup in its segment. The front profile will feature a radial calliper operating on the 300mm front rotor, and a single piston calliper with a 230mm disc at the rear. A single channel ABS will also be offered as standard for the safety of the rider. These features will give it an added advantage to face its biggest rival the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0.

5. The most powerful 125cc fully faired motorcycle

One of the major reasons why KTM might decide to launch RC 125 in India is because of the fact that it will be one of the most powerful 125cc fully faired offerings from KTM that will attract the attention of many buyers. The upcoming RC 125 will be powered by the same 124.7cc, single cylinder engine that also powers the Duke 125 as well.

The engine produces about 14.5 HP of peak power and 12 Nm of peak torque that makes it the most powerful 125 cc offering to be launched in the country. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Another positive thing about the motorcycle that will also attract the attention of the buyers is the fact that it will be a perfect balance between fuel efficiency and city-specific performance.
