Let's find out then who stands on the podium Honda City Last year this time, the Honda City was seen struggling very badly, not in showrooms but in production plant. Honda shifted its production last year from Greater Noida to Tapukara, Rajasthan. Also, the lack of diesel option and competition from Hyundai fludic Verna it faced. Now, Honda City back in the game. With all new model, which is an evolution inside out and comes with the new I-DTEC diesel engine and revised pricing, more space and more loaded than before its back where it belong. 5405 units this August is pretty impressive as last year only 757 units retailed. 614% increase is phenomenal indeed. All though Honda City reaches almost 7000 units the competition is stiff from Maruti Ciaz and refreshed car in the C-segment category. Tata Nano It is failed to gain the REAL momentum despite repeated attempts. Now, Tata Nano does well over the past one year due to making it more cool and enhancing its core qualities, that has worked a bit. AMT has a been a great hit for the company and that's the reason why it has sold 2335 units over the 758 units it sold last year. The 195.1 % increase is insane by any standard. We hope the numbers remain constant as it deserves to be there. A substantial increase when compared as the car is by the far the easiest city car to drive around in India today. Skoda Yeti Coming to the Germans or let's call it Czech. The Yeti is a fantastic car, very versatile with its performance and practicality that it offers. However, Indians love their large SUV's and hence is one core reasons why Yeti does not sell. Last year it sold only 6 units and this year it sold 15 units. Sales last year were down a bit as the news of the new one was in the market. Now, when launched couple of months back, it has sales number that justifies Toyota's line. Last year it sold 44 units and this year it sold 101 units. A humongous 130% increase for Toyota. Toyota continues to sell these numbers every month despite petrol engine and, which disturbs the segment leader, the Superb. However, the Superb is primarily known for its diesel engine. Hyundai i20 Hyundai India's best blockbuster is the i20, has helped them grow this year. Last year Hyundai sold 6627 units and this year, it sold 10,027 units. The i20 is getting dangerously close to the Maruti Swift with, which is competed once upon a time. Maruti made sure they responded and the YRA is coming soon to take the battle head on now.
