2019 is going to be an exciting year for motoring enthusiasts as so many new models from small hatchbacks to full-size SUVs will be introduced. The launch season starts from January and goes all the way till December. In this article, we are listing 20 cars that coming your way next year.

1. Tata Harrier

Tata Harrier is the production version of H5X concept shown at the 2018 Auto Expo and the company is going to launch the model in early 2019. The H5X is based on new OMEGA platform based on Land Rover Discovery Sport D8 platform and we can expect overall dimensions similar to the Discovery Sport.

The design is similar to the concept model and the interior is packed with lots of new features. The Harrier is powered by 2.0 L diesel engine sourced from FCA with 140 hp and comes with both automatic and manual transmission.

2. Nissan Kicks

Nissan officially revealed the India-spec Kicks last month and the compact SUV will be introduced in early 2019. The India-spec model is based on the B0 platform of Renault Duster as it is heavily localized in India, which will help the company to keep cost down.

The company has made some changes to the exterior design of Kicks to make it look bigger but the interior will be carried over from the International model with lots of features. The Kicks will be powered by same 1.5 L petrol and diesel engine from Captur with a manual transmission as standard.

3. Mahindra Inferno (S201)

Mahindra is currently working on a new compact SUV based on SsangYong Tivoli platform and it will be the third product from the company to come with monocoque chassis. The exterior design of Inferno is in line with other products from the company and the compact SUV comes with lots of segment first features to stand out from the competition.

The Inferno is expected to be powered by the new 1.5 L BSVI complaint diesel engine from Marazzo and the petrol engine will be a new unit, which is currently under development. The Inferno is expected to be launched by early 2019.

4. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

Maruti Suzuki will introduce the third generation Wagon R in the first half of 2019. The India-spec model is expected to get an evolutionary design theme compared to the global version, which looks different.

The interior will get major changes as the company will make it more modern with lots of new features as the current model lacks some. The engine lineup might be carried over from the current model and it will come with both manual and automatic transmission.

5. Ford Figo Facelift

Ford officially revealed the Figo facelift earlier this year and the updated model will be launched in Q1 of 2019. The facelift model continues the same changes as Aspire sedan with a revised front bumper and a new design for fog lamps housing. The headlamp design will be the same but the cluster might get some changes and the only change is on the side as new alloy wheels.

The interior gets the same dashboard from Freestyle along with touchscreen infotainment system on top end models. The engine lineup includes new 1.2 L Dragon series engine and the same 1.5 L diesel engine from the current model along with 5 speed manual as standard.

6. Renault RBC

Renault is developing a new compact SUV and it is based on the CMF-A platform, which is heavily localized in India as the Kwid was the first product to use it. The front design is expected to be similar to Kwid and the MPV might get 13 or 14-inch wheels depending on variants. The rear gets wrap-around tail lamps and a new bumper.

The interior is expected to be carried over from Kwid with similar features. The engine will be the same 1.0 L engine from the hatchback and it will be mated to both 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. The MPV will be launched by the middle of 2019.

7. Maruti Suzuki Swift RS

The performance variant of Swift is one of the most awaited models to be launched in India and the model that is coming here is slightly different as it will be named as Swift RS. The upcoming performance hatchback will be powered by same 1.0 L Boosterjet engine with 101 PS from Baleno and it will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The company will make some changes to suspension as they want to make the ride sporty. The Swift RS is expected to be launched in India by March 2019 to take on Tata Tiago JTP.

8. Hyundai Carlino

Hyundai is going to introduce a new compact SUV below Creta next year in India and it is codenamed as QXi. The design of compact SUV is going to take some inspirations from Carlino concept showcased at 2016 Auto Expo as the front gets signature grille of Hyundai along with new bumper and projector headlamps.

The rear get LED tail lamps along with new bumper and the interior is going to be in line with other products from Hyundai. The compact will be packed with lots of features and the engine lineup includes both petrol and diesel engines with manual and transmission.

9. Honda Civic

The new generation Honda Civic made its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo and the executive sedan is one of the most popular models in the country even though we didn’t get the last generation model. The design of the new Civic is completely different from the model, which was available in India and the interior design is plain but the company has packed the Interior with lots of features.

For the first time, the Civic will be available with a diesel engine along with petrol engine also. The Civic comes with both manual and automatic options, the launch is expected to take place in early 2019.

Tata Aquilla (45X) To Launch Early Next Year After Harrier In India

Tata Motors is developing a new premium hatchback and it will be the production version of 45X Concept model showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The new model is going to be based on the Alpha modular platform and the production version is expected to be introduced in 2019. The exterior design will be based on Impact Design philosophy and the interior will get a premium design theme also. The engine lineup includes a 1.2 L turbocharged petrol engine and 1.5 L diesel engine with manual and transmission.

11. Kia Tusker

The first product from Kia in India will be a compact SUV and it will be the production version of SP Concept showcased at 2018 Auto Expo. The upcoming SUV is expected to be named as Tusker and it will be based on Hyundai Creta platform.

The design of Tusker will be similar to the concept model and the interior will be in line with other Kia products as the compact SUV will be packed with lots of features. The Tusker will be powered by BSVI petrol and diesel engines with automatic and manual options. Kia will launch the Tusker by the middle of 2019.

12. Toyota Premium Hatch (Baleno Based)

Suzuki and Toyota announced its new partnership earlier this year as both companies will share products each other as Maruti will share its premium hatchback Baleno to Toyota but the latter will make some design tweaks to make it in line with its other products. The interior will be similar to Suzuki’s version and the engine lineup is same 1.2 L petrol engine and 1.3 L diesel engine with manual and automatic transmission.

13. Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift

Maruti Suzuki Baleno is the best selling premium hatchback in the country and the company will introduce a mid-life facelift for the hatchback next year in India to keep sales going. The changes will be limited to cosmetics as front and rear new bumpers along with new design for alloy wheels.

The interior might get some more features and the engine lineup will be retained from the current model with 1.2 L K-Series petrol engine and 1.3 L diesel engine with 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and CVT option is available with a petrol engine only.

14. Toyota Compact SUV (Vitara Brezza Based)

Toyota’s version of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will get a completely new exterior design as the company don’t want to just replace badge as the compact SUV will look like a proper Toyota product. The interior is expected to be carried over with same features from Maruti as it is one of the USP of Vitara Brezza.

The engine lineup includes a 1.3 L multijet diesel engine and 1.0 L Boosterjet engine, the gearbox options include 5-speed manual and AMT. The launch is expected to take place by the end of 2019.

MG Motors is coming back to India and the first product from the company will be a full-size SUV based on Baojun 530 and it is going to compete against Toyota Fortuner and Honda CR-V. The upcoming SUV will be localized heavily to keep the price low and the launch model will be a 5 seater, while the company plan to introduce 7 seater later.

The SUV will be packed with lots of features and quality will be par among competitors. The company will offer 2.0 L diesel engine sourced from FCA and 1.5 L turbocharged petrol engine with both manual and automatic options.

16. Hyundai Elantra Facelift

Hyundai officially revealed the Elantra facelift earlier this year and the design is completely different from the current model as the front get new grille along with revised headlamps and bumper. The rear also gets new LED tail lamp and a redesigned bumper also. The side continues to be the same except for new alloy wheels.

The interior is also new as the centre console gets a new design and the company has given lots of features for the executive sedan. The 1.6 L diesel and 2.0 L petrol engine will be retained from the current model as the launch will take place by the end of 2019.

17. Tata H7X

Tata Motors already confirmed that H5X will be followed by a seven-seater model based on the same platform and it is codenamed as H7X. The design is expected to be different from Harrier as the development in its early stages. The interior will come with premium materials and the SUV will be packed with lots of features to make it attractive. The engine will be the same 2.0 L unit from Harrier but produces more power and torque with same transmission. The H7X will be launched in late 2019.

18. Hyundai Kona EV

The first EV from Hyundai in India will be Kona and it was showcased at the Global Mobility Summit 2018 in New Delhi. The company might introduce the long-range model in which 64 kWh battery pack offers around 390 Km of range. The Kona EV also comes with fast charging and the performance figures are impressive as the SUV can hit 0-100 kph in just 6.4 sec. Hyundai imports Kona EV to India and it is expected to be priced at Rs. 25 lakh.

19. Maruti Suzuki Y1K

Maruti Suzuki is developing a micro-SUV and it is codenamed as Y1K. The upcoming model will be the production version of Concept Future S as the launch is expected to take place by the festival season of 2019. The Y1K could be powered by BSVI 1.0 L petrol engine producing 68 bhp of power and 90 Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. The company will pack the micro-SUV with lots of features and it will compete against Kwid in India.

20. Hyundai Grand i10

Hyundai commenced work on third generation Grand i10 earlier this year and the hatchback is expected to get an evolutionary exterior design theme. The front gets signature grille of Hyundai along with swept-back headlamps and the diamond alloy wheels come with a new design.

The tail lamps design will be new along with an updated bumper. The interior will be completely new with touchscreen system placed on the top of the dashboard. The engines will be the same from the current model but it will be updated to meet new BSVI emission norms and Grand i10 will be the second model from Hyundai to come with AMT transmission. The new Grand i10 will be introduced by October 2019.
