Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars In India - 7 Seater Wagon R To New Zen

The upcoming all Maruti Suzuki cars will be available only with a petrol engine, some will get EV option

Maruti Suzuki has more than 50 per cent market share in India and the company is looking to consolidate the number one position with over a dozen new models to continue the growth moving forward. They are working on new products along with updates for current products and they have already introduced BSVI complaint models. In this article, we take a look at the upcoming cars from Maruti Suzuki in India.

2. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross

Maruti Suzuki introduced the new-generation Ertiga last year. Now they are planning to introduce a new variant based on the Ertiga and it will be expected to be named as Cross. The upcoming model will be sold through Nexa dealerships instead of the Area for the regular model and it will come with minor exterior changes also.

The front might get a new grille along with a new set of bumpers at front and rear along with a new design for the alloy wheel. The interior also gets some changes for the dashboard and the Ertiga Cross will be available only as a 6-seater model as they want to give premium experience and the MPV will be powered by 1.5L petrol SHVs engine only.

3. Maruti Suzuki Y1K (New Zen)

Maruti Suzuki showcased the Future S concept at the 2018 Auto Expo and the company will introduce the production model in the Indian market later this year. The upcoming model might be christened as Zen because the nameplate has been so popular across India and it will help Maruti Suzuki to establish the brand new model easily.

The production model might carry forward the same design theme as the concept and the funky design theme will help to make the product stand out. The interior will be modern and it will be packed with lots of features like touch screen infotainment system and lots of safety features. The Zen is likely to be powered by either 1.0 L or 1.2 L petrol engines.

4. Rebadged Corolla

Maruti Suzuki had lots of success in the budget segment but the company is yet to taste good sales in the premium segment as their previous model failed. Now they are going to launch rebadged Toyota Corolla in the D-Segment as part of the deal between Suzuki and Toyota. Maruti is expected to make design tweaks for the Corolla.

The front might get new grille along with tweaked front and rear bumper along with new alloy wheels. The interior is expected to be carried over from Corolla and it will be packed with lots of features to lure buyers from competitors. Maruti Suzuki Corolla is likely to be powered only with a petrol engine and transmission options include manual and auto.

5. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R EV

Maruti Suzuki officially announced that the first EV model from the company will be Wagon R and currently the company is testing the JDM-spec model of Wagon R in India to test the performance of the battery in different climate and road conditions. The EV model might share the same design theme as the regular model.

The exterior is likely to get subtle changes like new alloy wheels and a new closed type grille to improve aerodynamic efficiency. The interior will be the same but the instrument cluster and infotainment system are likely to get some changes. Maruti hasn’t given details about the specification and the hatchback might get fast charging also.

6. Maruti Suzuki Vitara

Hyundai Creta is one of the best selling models in its segment and Maruti Suzuki currently doesn’t have a competitor for the Creta. But the company is planning to introduce next-generation Vitara in India. Globally Suzuki commenced development of the new generation Vitara, which is expected to be introduced next year.

Like the Creta, Suzuki is developing the new Vitara as a 7-seater model and the design theme could be different from the current model. The interior will be modern and the SUV will be packed with lots of modern features. The engine options might be limited to just petrol and later the company will introduce hybrid powertrain also.

7. Next-Generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Maruti Suzuki is working on the next generation of Celerio as the current model might not meet the upcoming crash test norms. The new model might be introduced next year and it is likely to be based on the Heartect platform like other cars from the portfolio and it will help the company to reduce cost.

The company hasn’t revealed many details about the new model and it might come with an evolutionary design theme but the interior will be all new as it will be packed with modern features. The hatchback will come with standard safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt alert and more. The Celerio will be powered by 1.2 L petrol engine mated to manual and AMT options.

9. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross SHVS Petrol

 

Maruti Suzuki is another model in the portfolio, which is currently available only with a diesel engine. Like the Vitara Brezza, the company will introduce the newly developed 1.5 L petrol engine, which produces 104.7 PS of power and 138 Nm of torque, mated to 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

This engine comes with dual-battery set up in which one will be used for onboard electronics and the second one will be used for the engine. The SHVS technology will improve efficiency with the help of the Start-Stop system, which can be very handy in city driving condition and the new petrol variant will be priced similar to current diesel models.

10. Maruti Suzuki Swift Dual-Jet

Maruti Suzuki will update the petrol engine on Swift to meet the upcoming BSVI norms as both Swift and Baleno share the same unit. The Swift Dual-Jet will be powered by the new 1.2 L DualJet engine producing 91 PS at 6,000 rpm and 118 Nm at 4,400 rpm. This engine is mated to 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT.

 

This engine comes with SHVS technology to improve efficiency as the start-stop system will be really useful in city driving conditions and the Lithium-ion battery can save energy from braking also. Apart from the introduction of a new engine, Maruti won’t make any changes for Swift and it will be priced slightly higher than the current model.
