The Indian auto industry reached a new milestone of over four million unit sales in a single calendar year in 2023 and the growth has certainly been driven by SUVs in the compact and midsize SUV segments. So much that the Tata Nexon topped the passenger vehicle sales charts for the first time and only six hatchbacks featured in the top 25 sales table.

Its sibling, the Tata Punch, came in second and both SUVs contributed to the major sum of Tata’s sales in 2023 (5.53 lakh units totally).
