Mahindra officially launched the new XUV 300 in India at Rs. 7.90 lakh (Ex-Showroom) and it is based on the same platform as SsangYong Tivoli as both models share lots of components. The XUV300 comes in four variants – W4, W6, W8 and W8(O). The company has given lots of features with the compact SUV and the entry-level model is also loaded well. The W4 variant of the XUV300 comes with electronically controlled exterior mirrors as standard as most of the manufacturers offer this in the top-end variant only.
The company is offering a basic audio system with 3.5-inch screen and it comes with four speakers along with Bluetooth and Aux-in.
The XUV300 gets electric tailgate release as standard and it is one of the most useful features.
Mahindra is offering XUV 300 with a multi-mode steering wheel and it is a segment first feature also. The steering wheel mode includes – Normal, Comfort and Sport, depending on the mode weight and feel of the steering wheel will be different.
The entry-level model gets a gear shift indicator on the instrument cluster, which will give guidance for the driver to shift up or down to improve efficiency and tyre postion display is also standard on all variants.
To give an upmarket feel, even the entry-level model comes with body coloured bumper, door handle and mirrors instead of the black colour.
The XUV300 W4 and W6 variants come with 16-inch steel wheels but the top end models get 17-inch machine cut alloy wheels.
Mahindra is focusing on safety and the XUV300 come with standard safety features like dual front airbags along with ABS and Electronic Brake Distribution.
The XUV300 gets segment first four disc brakes along with safety features like ABS and EBD, will further improve the braking performance.
The XUV300 is powered by newly developed 1.2 L turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 PS of power at 5,000 rpm and 200 Nm between 2,000 – 3,500 rpm. The diesel engine is the same 1.5 L unit from Marazzo but it is detuned to produce 115 PS at 3,750 rpm and 300 Nm between 1,500-2,500 rpm. These engines are mated to 6-speed manual gearbox.
