Top 10 Selling UVs in October 2016 in India

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Review17

Top 10 selling UVs in October 2016 chart features Vitara Brezza as the only SUV to have gone past 10,000 units in the Indian market

When Maruti Suzuki decided to turn its attention from entry-level segments to slightly upmarket sub-compact SUV, there was huge buzz over how they would get things right. As the Vitara Brezza was launched in March, several of the skeptics were convinced by its potential. As months past, Vitara started pulling away from Creta and achieved 50,000 sales milestone by September. In the following month of October, it was the only UV to have sold over 10,000 units.

With 10,056 examples retailed last month, it had put a gap of 1,386 to Creta and remained on top position. The Creta SUV was closely followed by Mahindra Bolero in third position as only 347 units separated them. The Bolero’s 7 percent sales growth could have been helped by the sub-four variant introduced lately which offers same features as the regular model with reduced price due to the shortened length.

However, compared to the old-gen Innova which was on sales last October, the sales for Crysta increased by 10 percent. As Innova continues to lead the MPV segment, the much lowly priced Ertiga people carrier registered 5,660 units of sales to complete the first half of the table.

The second half, as ever, was crowded by SUVs from M&M as Scorpio continued its momentum with 11 percent sales jump compared to October 2015 with 5,251 deliveries. Ford’s bestselling vehicle in India, the EcoSport sub-4m SUV finished seventh with 3,936 units. Its facelifted version globally debuted at the LA Auto Show and could reach India late next year. The final three places were covered by TUV300, XUV500 and KUV100 respectively. The KUV micro-SUV is expected to face healthier competition from Maruti Suzuki Ignis which is due for launch early 2017.
