Top 10 selling SUVs in June 2016 has witnessed Honda BR-V making its mark in seventh

The Hyundai Creta is still the leading SUV in the domestic market while Mahindra features five of its utility vehicles in the top ten. The South Korean manufacturer celebrates one year of Creta this month and thereby launched the anniversary edition a few days back. It heads the SUV sheets with a total of 7,700 units.

Not far away behind is the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza which is registering consistent sales since launched. It closed the month of June 2016 with 6,673 examples sold. Slotting in at third behind the only Maruti Suzuki SUV in the list is the segment’s benchmark sub-compact model, Ford EcoSport.

The best-selling Ford vehicle in the country endured a 26 per cent growth in YoY sales as 4,609 units were retailed. Next three SUV are Mahindra’s key volume sellers – the Bolero, KUV100 and Scorpio. While the recently launched KUV100 managed to split the aging duo, Bolero is facing downward curve in the rankings since Creta took over the charge from it.

At a drop of 39 per cent, Bolero garnered 3,699 units of sales and at 8 per cent fall Scorpio achieved 3,366 deliveries last month. Sandwiching them is the KUV100 which has been finding itself in the top five regularly – 3,543 units of total sales in June for the first-ever micro-SUV in India.

Honda BR-V is another newcomer featured in the top ten. It registered 3,064 units of retailed figures to finish seventh ahead of XUV500, Duster and TUV300. Mahindra’s flagship SUV, the XUV500 recorded 2,288 selling units while Renault’s updated Duster fell short by a little margin by attaining 1,945 units at the end of last month. Underlining the strong presence of sub-four metre SUVs, the Mahindra TUV300 wrapped up 1,722 units to round out the top ten SUV charts.
