Top 10 selling SUVs in November 2017 encountered a very encouraging sales for the facelifted EcoSport while Nexon overtook Scorpio for fifth position
The existing trend of customers’ preference towards SUVs and crossovers in the domestic market has paved way for some exciting products in the last two or three years. The Vitara Brezza, launched last year, blew the competition and got the better of Ford EcoSport in the sub-four metre SUV segment before overtaking Creta and becoming the bestselling SUV.
It has stayed put its momentum in November as 14,458 examples were sold in the month. It is 5,930 units more than what Creta had registered as the battle between them for leading position has started to create a big gap in recent months. Slotting in at fourth was Bolero which witnessed a sub-four version being introduced lately. It posted 4,911 units and continued to bear the flag for the largest SUV manufacturer in the country.

Far behind at sixth was its sibling workhorse, the Scorpio, as 3,660 deliveries were made in the month of November 2017. Ford’s ace SUV in the market, the EcoSport, is a worldwide hit and it has jumped up the pecking order as a new generation with edgy styling, improved features and a new 1.5-litre Dragon petrol engine with class-leading power output has shaken up the charts.
It is expected to grow further as 5,474 units were sold last month at third position. Maruti’s S-Cross had an up and down sales last year but since the arrival of the updated version, its fortunes have turned around. It stands eighth in the list with 3,363 units. The latest generation Toyota Fortuner has picked up where its predecessor left off and it rounded out the chart with 2,271 units by finishing just behind the Jeep Compass.

The Compass is the sole sales hope for FCA in India and it has certainly been well-received in the market. Tata is said to be ramping up the production of the Nexon to meet the growing demands as the highly capable subcompact SUV saw 4,163 examples being delivered to end up fifth.
