The top 10 selling SUVs in May 2018 table saw Maruti Suzuki S-Cross raising to fourth position behind topper Vitara Brezza, Creta and EcoSport
The current trend of buyers’ affinity towards SUVs and crossovers in the Indian market has ignited the way for the entry of some of the highly-capable vehicles in recent times across different segments the industry has never seen. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, launched in early 2016, has always stayed ahead of the competition and overtook the benchmark Ford EcoSport in the subcompact SUV segment.
After achieving its initial target, it began outsmarting Hyundai Creta in sales and became the bestselling SUV in the country. It has remained atop the rest in the fifth month of the year as well as 15,629 units were sold. It was 4,625 units more than what compact Creta could manage. Coming in at third was EcoSport as it registered 5,003 unit sales in May 2018 and continues to be the top-selling model for the American manufacturer.

Slotting in at fourth was another Maruti Suzuki as S-Cross recorded 4,610 deliveries in May 2018. Due to the substantial facelift with updated design, new features and Dragon petrol engine with class-topping power out, the EcoSport has managed to steady its ship in the market.
Likewise the arrival of the updated S-Cross has enabled Maruti Suzuki to gain back lost momentum, and is posting good numbers since the start of the year. The Nexon has been the much-needed hit for Tata Motors and is getting positive response for solid build and engaging ride quality.
It finished just behind S-Cross with 4,610 units in fifth position and ahead of Mahindra’s workhorse Scorpio that endured 3,775 unit sales. The Mahindra TUV300 finished ninth with 1,939 deliveries and behind recently facelifted XUV500 and Honda WR-V. Toyota’s Fortuner rounded out the top 10 with a total of 1,902 units last month.
