The chart containing top 10 selling SUVs in July 2018 has encountered Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza heading the way ahead of Hyundai Creta
Maruti Suzuki’s recent vehicles have worked wonders as Baleno, facelifted S-Cross and Vitara Brezza are thriving in volume. The Vitara Brezza has been posting stunning sales ever since it entered the market in March 2016 and soon become the best-selling SUV in the country by overtaking Hyundai Creta.
The Creta compact SUV is enjoying a prominent run in the domestic market as 10,423 units were sold in July 2018. With segment’s potential largely remains untapped, new manufacturers are stepping in to rival the Creta in the near future, but until then the Korean SUV can have a dominant reign.
|S.No||Top 10 Selling SUVs In July 2018||No. Of Units Sold|
|1.||Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza||14,181|
|3.||Maruti Suzuki S-Cross||5,308|
The S-Cross has finished at third with 5,308 examples while Ford EcoSport, the early benchmark in its subcompact SUV segment, ended up fourth with 4,040 deliveries. Mahindra & Mahindra’s Scorpio workhorse is the leading SUV in the brand’s lineup in terms of sales as 3,876 examples were sold.
At the second half of the table, Tata Motors’ Nexon was positioned sixth with 3,840 units. The introduction of AMT has helped Nexon to maintain its decent run in the Indian market. The WR-V crossover has been a hit since its market entry in March 2017 and is responsible for the Japanese brand registering 16.9 percent YoY growth last month.
Mahindra’s flagship XUV500 completed in eight position with 2,776 units, ahead of TV300 with 2,091 units. The homegrown brand’s fortunes will be revived soon as three new products are launching in the next few months. One is called Marrazo that will rival Toyota Innova Crysta and the other is rebadged version of SsangYong Rexton.
However, the most important of them is going to be the S201 compact SUV as it will compete against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport in the highly competitive subcompact SUV space.
