Top 10 selling SUVs in January 2018 saw new SUVs like Tata Nexon and Honda WR-V making a name for themselves with good numbers

The prevailing trend of buyers’ preference towards SUVs and crossovers in the Indian market has showed the way to some of the exciting products ever to be launched in the last two or three years. The Vitara Brezza, launched in early 2016, shattered the competition and got the better of benchmark Ford EcoSport in the subcompact SUV segment before getting the better of Hyundai Creta and becoming the bestselling SUV in the country.

It stays in the same top spot at the first month of 2018. Continuing its momentum in January, the Vitara Brezza retailed 11,785 units. It is 2,501 units more than what Creta had managed as the battle between them for leading position intensifies every month.

Tata is said to be ramping up the production of the Nexon to meet the growing demands. It finished ahead of the Honda WR-V again as the latter in seventh registered a total of 4,273 units. The Mahindra TUV300 and XUV500 rounded out the chart with 2,625 and 2,316 units respectively.
